Use It, Don’t Brick It: LEGO Flash Drive

LEGO USB

The long wait is over: the official Lego flash drive is finally here. Sure, modders and DIY-ers have made their own equally awesome Lego-inspired USB drives over the years. But the same can’t be said for the lazy, Lego-loving geeks who don’t have the knowhow or are just too lazy to make their own.

The fully-licensed Lego flash drive looks like several plates were stacked one on top of the other. The coolest part? You can use it like a regular brick and stack whatever you want onto it to make it truly your own.

The Lego flash drive is available in a variety of colors and capacities. Prices for 16GB start at $12.99, and it comes with a bonus Lego brick to boot.

The Only Hub You’ll Ever Need: 28-Port USB Hub

28Port USB

Most laptops come with at least two USB ports on average. Some come built with as much as four. But if you transfer files from one external drive to another while printing stuff and adding songs to your iPod on the side, then you’ve got no more port left for hooking your camera or tablet or whatever else up. Not that you should be doing all of these things at once, but if you do, then you might want to get one of these 28-port USB hubs.

It looks like a power strip, only instead of sockets, it’s line with USB hubs instead. As the name implies, it can accommodate up to 28 connections, from flash drives and cables to connect your camera, phone, and MP3 players with your computer.

The 28-port USB hub is available online for about $62.

Ninja Star USB: Shuriken Save Your Data

Ninja Star USB

The Ninja Star USB isn’t exactly the most discrete flash drive on the market, but it’s definitely one of the most attractive ones out there. As you can see, it’s shaped like a shuriken, the weapon of choice of stealthy ninjas, and while it’s not as sharp as its namesake, it can hold 8 gigabytes worth of data, be it documents, pictures, music, or movie files.

The Ninja Star USB can’t fight deadly computer viruses on its own, but it shuriken keep your data safe as long as you keep it safe. (Pun intended–sorry, I couldn’t resist!) It’s available online for $15.50.

myIDKey: Your Passwords and Sensitive Account Information At the Tip of Your Finger

myIDkey

You’ll notice that life gets progressively harder when you have more email address, bank accounts, or social network profiles than the average person. Because while you might be more social or have more money, and thus, more cards to maintain, you’ll pretty much have the same memory capacity as anyone else. In other words, you’ll have a much harder time keeping track of all your passwords, PINs, and account numbers.

Then along came myIDkey.

They Finally Did It: Kingston to Release 1TB USB 3.0 Flash Drives This Year

Terabyte Drive

If you’ve ever wished for a 1-terabyte flash drive, then your wish is Kingston’s command. The company is known for the solid line of USB drives that they’ve released throughout the years, but now they’re cementing their status as the King of USBs by unveiling their new flash drives called the DataTraveler HyperX Predator with 512GB and 1TB capacities. That’s a whole lot of memory for such a teeny, tiny drive that can easily fit into your pocket.

Aside from its massive capacity, Kingston’s 3.0 USB flash drive is also built for speed: it can read data at 240MB/s, while its write speeds are at 160MB/s. The company hasn’t announced pricing information yet, although they’re currently selling the 512GB version for $1,750. Estimates place the price somewhere around the $3,000 range, but hopefully we’re wrong because even while we love the goods, that’s still one hefty price tag.

TDKR Flash Drive Makes Accessing Your Data Painful for Batman

Dark Knight Rises USB

Batman’s got the brains, the brawn, and the money, so it’s no wonder that he rose to the top of the superhero food chain without actually having any superpowers. Regardless of how you feel for Bruce Wayne and his ethics, you can’t really deny that this Dark Knight Rises Batman flash drive is off the wall and pretty awesome, in more ways than one.

First of all, it doesn’t really look like a flash drive. It looks like a miniature bust of Batman in all his splendor–but take off his head (yes, you have to decapitate Batman every time you access your data) and you’ve got your flash drive right there. Plug the dock into your computer and the bat logo on Batman’s chest lights up. Plug his head in and Batman’s eyes will glow a cool blue. Sounds pretty creepy, but it look’s extremely cool.

Oppa Gangnam Style USB Drive Will Make You Go ‘Op, Op, Op..’

Gangnam Style USB Drive

PSY’s Gangnam Style has broken records in both the real world and in the virtual world. It’s currently the third most-watched video on YouTube and it has inspired countless video parodies, Halloween costumes, and art installations ever since it hit. It looks like the folks over at USB Geek are jumping on the PSY bandwagon as well with the release of the PSY Gangnam Style USB Drive.

The PSY-inspired flash drive comes in 4GB, 8GB, 16GB, and 32GB capacities and is coated with a durable silicone casing. It’s USB 2.0 certified and functions just like any other flash drive out there in the market. Perfect for storing and sharing your own Oppa-tastic parody of PSY’s hit tune. My only beef with the design is that it doesn’t feature PSY posed in the signature dance move from Gangnam Style. Now that would’ve been way cooler.
