A Magnetic Levitation Turntable For The Ultimate In Vibration Dampening

mag-lev-1

The MAG-LEV Audio looks pretty badass. It’s a turntable with a magnetically levitating platter, and that alone should be the main selling point. The platter is smoothly controlled through a patented drive system that can easily switch between 33.3-rpm and 45-rpm with just a turn of a button. When you turn it off, the platter gently lowers back down onto a set of legs that pops up upon shutdown. There’s even an Uninterrupted Power Supply that will perform a smooth shutdown procedure in case of power loss, protecting your precious records and your expensive turntable as well. And we say expensive because of course the MAG-LEV Audio isn’t cheap: it’s an $880 pledge to get your own, with shipping almost a year away in September 2017.

Floating Record Spins Your Vinyls Vertically

floating-record

The joke is getting old: kids won’t know what this is. I think it’s fair to say that it’s been made long enough that kids know what vinyl records, at least as the subject of a very lame joke. So we won’t make it… but we’ll use it as a segue to introduce the Floating Records Vertical Turntable anyway. Those of you who bother to have records probably feel very protective and fond of them, so you ought to get yourself a turntable that lives up to the quality of your affections.

An all-in-one solution, it features built-in, full-range stereo speakers, so it’s easy to get up and running. It uses an Audio-Technica AT95E cartridge mounted on a fully-adjustable carbon fiber tone arm, a DC manual belt-drive system to spin both 33s and 45s, and a high-mass acrylic plinth and platter. It has a headphone jack for private listening, and RCA outs with a built-in preamp in case you want to integrate it into your existing system. Assembled by hand in Chicago.

It’s a striking device, and it comes at a relatively reasonable price of $349. This is a pledge to the Kickstarter campaign, so you will unfortunately have to wait until December to get your shipment.

Beautiful And Functional Turntable Made Out Of LEGO

lego_turntable_00

We never cease to be amazed at other people’s talent, patience, and dedication. To craft a fully-functional turntable out of LEGO bricks, Hayarobi, a Korean lego enthusiast, used up 2,045 pieces. The only non-LEGO parts are the Audio Technica phono cartridge. It’s even “powered by a LEGO Power Functions Battery Box and uses a LEGO Power Functions M-Motor.”

The creation is called ‘The Planet’ and was displayed at the 2014 Seoul Brick Pop Art Exhibition. Make sure to follow the link below for a ton more pictures.
