ComfortWay iPhone Case Provides Cheap Data Roaming

comfotway-travel-case

Modern smartphone have transformed our data usage habits, which is fine as long as you’re in your home country, paying your reasonable rates. But the minute you travel you expose yourself to exorbitant roaming charges. ComfortWay is working on a pretty cool Travel Case for the iPhone 5/5S, and 6, that could give you up to 200MB a day for as little as $2/day. The case contains a configurable SIM that will download the proper carrier settings as soon as you launch the companion app, after arriving at your destination of course. Once logged in, it turns itself into a WiFi hotspot that your iPhone (and up to 9 other devices) then connects to. Oh, and did we mention there’s a 2,400 mAh battery in there as well?

The protocol is HSPA+, which boasts speeds up to 42Mb/s; that’s plenty fast even for HD video. After you’ve reached the 200MB cap, speeds are reduced to 128Kbps. It’s a pay-as-you-go type of product, with credits easily added through Visa, MasterCard or Paypal, in the companion app.

All in all, it sounds like a great product, but seeing as it’s a Kickstarter, it’s far from being available. A pledge of $79 will save you a spot, but that’s the Early Bird pricing. And if it does reach its goals, expect to see the case around May 2015.

The ThermalStrike Luggage Will Bake The Bedbugs Out Of Your Clothes

thermalstrike-heating-luggage

There are some thing you want to bring back from your vacations, like that stupid jar of sand or that bottle of questionable rum. But what you definitely don’t want to bring back are bed bugs. Those little suckers will lay eggs in your clothes, and next thing you know you have an infestation. But if you pack your stuff in ThermalStrike’s line of heated luggage, you don’t have to worry about a thing. Special elements on the inside lining will heat the contents up to 140° F (60C); just leave the bags plugged in to an outlet for a few hours before checking out, and you’ll effectively kill any potential friends you were about to inadvertently bring back. It’s FAA and TSA compliant, so you can travel worry free. And the price is more than reasonable, with a carry-on sized bag costing $200, while a full size upright is $249; the set is $399.

NapAnywhere Means It Could Be Nappy Time… Anywhere

napanywhere

If you’ve ever bought one of those U-shaped pillows from an airport gift shop in the hopes of getting some z’s on the plane, you likely know that they’re not all that great at their job. They’re generally too soft, with minimal support for your head. But the NapAnywhere device hopes to succeed where others have failed.

NapAnywhere starts as a flat disc. Once opened, the top of the pillow forms a shelf where the user rests his or her head while sleeping. The bottom curves over the user’s shoulder. The area in between is what allows the weight to be distributed around the shoulder, and thus what prevents the head from drooping, which could lead to neck cramps or an annoyed neighbor.

It unfolds flat when not in use, so you can stuff it into a carry on luggage without too much trouble. Designed by Ravi Shamaiengar, the NapAnywhere pillow is available as a $39 Kicstarter pledge until the early bird pricing sells out, after which it goes up $5, to $44.
