Custom Super Mario Drum Set is Awesome

Super Mario Drum Set

This Super Mario Brothers-themed drum set was made by Josh Fry and it’s all kinds of awesome. It features everyone’s favorite characters from the Mario franchise, including Mario himself, Luigi, the Princess, and even the Toad. I also see the Fire Flower power up and several question mark blocks that are just ripe for the hitting.

Super Mario Doorbell is a Huge Level Up From the Usual

You might want to get your tools ready, because you’ll probably never be satisfied with your current doorbell after you see the one programmer Joseph Thai has by his front door. It was created with a Super Mario Brothers theme in mind. The button is covered with an image of a coin, and there’s a counter that keeps track of how many times the doorbell has been pressed (or how many coins have already been collected. Get it?)

Every time a guest presses the coin button, the counter displayed will increment and the coin sound from Mario will be played. As a special bonus, every 10 coins will cause the life-up sound to be played, and every 100 coins will cause the mushroom upgrade sound to be played.

Want to make your own? Joseph was nice enough to post all the technical stuff on his website.

McDonald’s Happy Meals in Japan are All About Super Mario

McDonalds Mario Happy Meal

Happy Meals are truly happy in Japan.

While McDonald’s stores in the US are all about NFL-themed toys, the ones in Japan right now are particularly super as they feature none other than Super Mario. They’re doing it as a way to celebrate one of Nintendo’s most well-known franchise. In a way, it’s also celebrating Nintendo as a video game company, as they’ve been making games (and making the lives of the people who play them a lot more fun) since 1889.

The toys feature Mario in various costumes and positions, and include figures of the Princess and Yoshi, too. But what about Luigi?

This is What 974 People Playing Super Mario At the Same Time Looks Like

Super Mario

Super Mario was one of the first games I ever played on our now-defunct Nintendo Family Computer. If you played video games in the eighties and nineties, then I’m sure you’ve probably had a go or two at Super Mario yourself.

A custom level of Super Mario was built especially for the recent GamesCon that was held in Germany, where 974 people played the game simultaneously. Every screen was recorded and then compiled into one video for no particular reason. Other than the fact that it’s admittedly entertaining to watch how close to a thousand people can play the same game so differently.

You can check the video out after the break.

All Game for Easter: Super Mario Nintendo Easter Eggs

Nintendo Mario Easter Eggs

Easter is fast approaching. Religious significance aside, it’s time to break out your brushes and pots of paint once more because it’s time to design those Easter eggs! Instructables user Imnopeas got a headstart on everyone else by doing her eggs early this year for her son, and they turned out great. I think it’s safe to assume that her kid’s a gamer from the looks of these eggs.

In case you’re out of ideas and want to copy her idea, you’re in luck because she’s shared the details of the project on Instructables.
