A lot of my friends have decided to go back to college or university to further their educations, but I’ve always wondered if I could go back to grade school instead. Not only would I rock every test and quiz, but I’d get to play dodgeball again and enjoy the lost art of recess. And if that ever comes to pass, I’ll definitely be sporting one of these Star Wars backpacks that Comic Images was showing off at Toy Fair.

The C-3PO in pieces from Empire Strikes Back seems like an obvious design for Lucasfilm to overlook, as does the Boba Fett rocket pack. Sadly the missile doesn’t fire, and the rockets don’t work, and there’s probably a good chance I’ll get beat up in the back corner of the playground for wearing either of them. (Sniff) Ah grade school…

Thankfully, a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away, someone had the foresight to remove the SpecPlates off a handful of Imperial Star Destroyers before they were sold for scrap after the Galactic Empire fell. And now, many unspecified years later, they’ve made them available for sale. Each plate is 36 inches wide by 17 inches tall and made of 1/8 inch aluminum, and there’s only about 25 of them up for grabs, so the $1,994.99 price tag (available March 2010) is understandable. Now it might not be the most affordable collectible for every Star Wars fan out there, but if your ancestors served on one of these ships during the Clone Wars, it might be a nice way to remember them.

Then keep moving, because these aren’t the droids you’re looking for. Anywho, Hasbro has finally given us the opportunity to fly our very own replica Falcon. Unfortunately it comes in the form of a cheesy helicopter-like toy.

This 11-inch by 8-inch toy was just announced at the Toy Fair. It looks like you’re going to get the Falcon and a charging remote for $50 this fall. I’m hoping that it flies a little better than some of the other R/C helicopters I’ve flown in the past. I guess what I’m saying is that while I know she doesn’t look like much, I’m just hoping she’s got it where it counts.

Let’s say that you’re the ultimate Star Wars fan out there, what do you sleep on at night? Sure, you could go with your vintage Empire Strikes Back sheets atop your otherwise normal bed. But don’t you think that you can show your love in a better way? Perhaps one that will make most people even more reluctant to share your bed. That’s right, you need a bed modeled after the Millennium Falcon.

One fan has decided to craft such a bed, with a good bit of accuracy. There aren’t a lot of details on how to replicate it, but it does give you something to think about. The front includes a pair of working “headlights” and a string of LED lights provides the perfect mood lighting for any geeky bedtime encounter. The pillow shaped like a radar dish is the icing on the cake.

I mean nobody hates R2-D2, so having multiple versions of him strung around your Christmas tree (10 per strand spaced 12 inches apart) is a sure fire way to make the holidays <del datetime="2009-12-08T00:55:04+00:00">more profitable for Lucasfilm</del> more festive. Supposedly these have been popping up at the likes of Target for some time now, and you can expect to pick up a set for around $15-$25 according to R2D2Central.com.

Say what you will about George Lucas and his merchandising empire, but I have to give them credit for realizing how important their fans are and not always having a knee-jerk lawsuit reaction to every single Star Wars homage. Like this custom ‘Han Solo frozen in carbonite’ desk created by Tom Spina Designs. While there’s not a terrible amount of information on their site about it, I’m pretty sure it’s not an officially licensed Star Wars product since it was actually created as a custom one-off design for one of their clients.

Oh and FYI, while it’s a nice design and all, I’m not a fan of glass top desks because there’s always the chance of this happening.
