intestine-socks

If you’re not one, you likely know one. You know, that guy with a quirky sense of humour, always wearing novelty trinkets for kicks and giggles? Yeah, so here’s another one for his arsenal: Intestine Socks. They are exactly what they sound like. Actually, no, they’re nothing like that. They’re not, you know, made from guts. They just look like them. And they cost $11 a pair.

Sushi Socks: Looks Yummy Rolled Up and On Your Feet

Sushi Socks

These delicious pieces of sushi might just knock your socks off–literally, because you’re supposed to pull them over your feet and wear them, not eat them. Each one features a sushi pattern that doesn’t look too out there when they’re on your feet, so you shouldn’t be afraid to wear them, even if you’re not big on colorful clothing or socks with loud patterns.

It’s a completely different story when the Sushi Socks are all rolled up and folded in your sock drawer, though, because they look just like delicious sushi!

The sushi detail is knitted into the sock with colored thread instead of being printed. Seven versions are available: Masuzushi (trout sushi), Shrimp, Octopus, Red Caviar, Tuna, Salmon, and Egg.

The Sushi Socks are available for $5.39 a pair.

Burnt Coffee Socks Could Help You Get Rid Of Smells

Socks-Made-with-Carbonized-Coffee-that-keep-your-feet

No one likes smelly feet, and a good solution to this is changing socks often, and washing. But that’s not always possible, and anyone’s who’s ever been trekking or played some sport knows that feet will end up smelling, no matter what. To combat the footsie fragrances, the ATLAS sock hopes to use carbonized coffee woven straight into its polyester fabric.

The Atlas sock literally uses carbonized coffee that is “reclaimed from coffee roasters and shops, and is processed through a pharmaceutical process to remove the coffee oils (so it won’t smell like coffee!) and is then infused into our recycled polyester yarns. Our unique Atlas yarn has been tested in the lab by using an ASTM Standard (D 5742), to compare odor control against other fabrics – it’s 3X more effective at absorbing odor molecules than regular cotton!”

So there seems to have been some testing behind the claims, which is always good when you’re going to be dropping $28 for two pairs.

Military Grade Waterproof Socks

We’re slowly emerging from the glacial grip of an Arctic freeze, here in the Northeast, and everyone’s thoughts are still on the business of staying warm. The Waterproof Socks you see above might not be extra useful when everything is frozen solid, but freezing-point temperatures are around the corner, and getting your feet immersed in slush (aka slurry, or whatever you guys call it) is a quick way to get your toes nice and frosted. If you really, really don’t want to get your feet cold, you’re going to want this:

These are the fleece-lined waterproof socks that keep extremities dry and warm down to temperatures as low as -30º F. Used by the U.S. military, the socks have an outer layer of nylon/Lycra for durability and a comfortable stretch fit, a waterproof middle layer, and an inner layer of expedition-weight, double-velour Polartec® fleece that wicks away moisture. Pressure tested to ensure against leaks.

It’s $55 for the pair, which is exorbitant. But we suspect that at that price, they probably work better than wrapping your feet in Ziplock bags.

Portal Undies and Knee-High Socks Physically Get You in the Game

Portal Socks

What better way to play Portal than to deck yourself out in themed garb? Obviously, you don’t need to, but I think it’s a little funner that way. The love that some people have for their favorite games inspires them to come up with designs revolving around the themes of the game, like these knee-high Portal 2 socks and undies.

You won’t survive any long falls even if you’ve got these socks on, but at least you’ll good in the process.

Smart Socks Tracks Down the Life Cycle of Your Socks and More

Smart Socks

How many socks have you lost in your lifetime? If you’re like most other average human beings, then you’ve probably lost tons. Don’t even get me started on the times I’ve worn mismatched socks because I was in a hurry and couldn’t find the right pair (either that, or I was too sleepy to care.)

Apparently, this is a huge problem to some people who just can’t stand wearing mismatched socks. If you also have the need to know where certain pairs of your socks are, then you might be interested in the Smarter Socks system, which is comprised of RFID chips, a scanner, and an iPhone. Pretty complicated stuff just for socks, but hey, whatever floats your boat.
