It was just a few days ago that news was spreading of Sharp’s new 12MP image stabilized CMOS sensor. Roughly the same size at the sensor in the iPhone, it’s the world’s smallest to have stabilization. And while the cramming of so many pixels may or may not be a good idea, turns out that the stabilization capabilities are pretty darn impressive. Just watch the video below to get an idea. Incidentally, it’s mounted inside the “Sharp AQUOS SH-01D, a skinned Android handset from Japan’s NTT DoCoMo which also packs a 1280 x 720 3D display into its waterproof case.”

Sure, this is not LED so it’s bulkier and uses a more electricity. But it’s also 5 feet of television! We’re talking about the Sharp AQUOS LC-60E79U 60-in 1080p 120Hz LCD HDTV, which features 1920×1080 1080p resolution, 4 HDMI inputs, HD tuner, 120Hz refresh rate, and more.
I am a big netbook fan, I like the portability of the machines and every netbook I have tried was capable of doing everything I need a computer to do this side of gaming. With the glut of netbooks on the market, manufacturers are trying everything from bright colors to odd features to set their virtually identical machines apart from the pack.

One of the strangest features I have seen on a netbook is the secondary LCD/track pad that is on the Sharp Mebius NJ netbook I talked about last week. The small secondary display accepts handwriting and turns it into text on the screen as well. If you liked the cool factor of the NJ netbook, you can get one here in America soon.

Sharp apparently isn’t directly offering the NJ in the U.S., but the importer Dynamism is offering the netbook for sale to American geeks. The downside is that the price is high at $999. Before I plunked down my cash on the machine I would wait for a review, I suspect the battery life with dual LCDs will be horrid.

By Shane McGlaun

I have seen some strange notebooks and netbooks before, but adding a second screen to a 10-inch netbook is one of the strangest things I have seen. Sharp has introduced the new Mebius netbook for the Japanese market.

The machine has a second 4-inch LCD where the track pad would normally be. The small screen has a resolution of 854 x 480 and can show video and other content on its little screen. The screen also doubles as the track pad and can be used to input handwriting into the computer.

Other than the little screen the machine is standard netbook with an Intel Atom N270 CPU, 10.1-inch LCD with a 1024 x 600 resolution, 160GB HDD, and three USB ports. Wi-Fi, Ethernet, and Bluetooth are also built-in. The machine is only available in Japan at the moment for the equivalent of $815. I don’t really see it selling like hotcakes.
