Ceramic Jellyfish And Squid Plant Holders Are Awesome

If you’re going to have plants in your living area, you can be boring and put them in an ole’ clay pot. Or you can get creative and purchase one of California-based artists Cindy and James Searles’ many creations. Their hanging plant pots are shaped like jellyfish, squids, and other cephalopods, and they create a whimsical environment that looks like these creatures are swimming through the air in your apartment. They made them in all kinds of shapes, sizes and colors, and the prices are more than reasonable, starting at around $30.

This Ceramic Pot Minder Prevents Boil-Overs

Ever cooked pasta at home? Most people have, so you should be familiar with the situation where you’re getting the water up to temp and everything is pretty calm, until suddenly it blasts past the boiling point and the whole pot starts to shake and rattle in excited ebullition. It’s also dangerous if you’re standing around it when it happens, so we’re somewhat intrigued by the Ceramic Pot Minder from JBK Pottery. It’s small ceramic disc that works in two ways. One is by chattering at the bottom of the pot when temps start to get close to boiling, alerting you that you should come back and tend to your cooking. The other is by “modif[ying] the size and number of bubbles rising to the top of the pot, preventing messy boil overs.” It’s made from fully vitrified porcelain ceramic, and should be able to be used over and over again. $4!

Qualy Flowerpot and Squirrel

Plants… Better keep those away from us. Caring for anything that’s unable to come and nag for its food is a recipe for disaster round these parts. Yet, we’re still suckers for good design, and the Qualy Flowerpot and Squirrel is just the kind of thing we’re sure could brighten someone’s day right up. It’s a self-watering flowerpot with a water container within, which then supplies it to the soil through a cord inside the pot.

Both the squirrel and the plant are dependent on your love and care. And, when you pour water through the knothole, the tiny squirrel will appear in its peephole and will show that the plant has enough water. As the water level decreases, you will see less and less of the tiny squirrel. If you only see its big, round eyes, then the squirrel and plant are awfully thirsty and it´s high time to water again.

It’s roughly $35 (€26).
