SOG Key Knife: It’s a Key, It’s a Knife, No Wait–It’s Just a Knife!

SOG Key Knife

If the blade on your multi-tool just doesn’t cut it, then you might want to check the SOG Key Knife out. It looks like a key, although it’s a bit thicker than the average because it packs a small-but-still-functional blade right in the shaft. You can go for a plain blade or a Key Knife with a nail file if you’re the type who picks at your nails a lot.

The Key Knife will set you back about $10-$11, whichever type you pick.

Foldio 2 Lets You Take Studio-Quality Pics on the Go

Foldio 2 Pop-Up Studio

These days, the image quality that you can get with some smartphones can rival those of images taken with an actual camera. That said, it doesn’t come as much of a surprise that people use smartphones to take pictures of stuff they’re featuring on their blog or selling online. The Orange Monkie team knows this, which prompted them to come up with the Foldio last year.

This time, they’re back with Foldio 2– an upgraded version of the mobile studio that’s twice the size of its predecessor. It comes with three backdrops and is lit by dual LED strips which provide more-than-adequate lighting for your shoot.

Scrubba Wash Bag: For Last Minute Laundry, On the Go

Scrubba Wash Bag

There are two types of people in this world among the many different classifications: those who underpack, and those who overpack. Of course, sometimes you get it right once in a while and pack just enough, but it’s often one or the other. For those who belong to the former, there’s the Scrubba wash bag.

The Scrubba looks like a plain bag on the outside, but it’s packed with row upon row of nodules on the inside that function as an internal washboard. All you have to do is fill it up with water, detergent, and your dirty clothes and rub the Scrubba this way and that for 30 seconds to 3 minutes.

Unload and hang your stuff to dry, and you’ll have a fresh change of clothes in no time. The Scrubba is available online for $55.

Anura Pocket Drone Looks Super Awesome

Anura-Pocket-Drone

Quadrocopters are all the rage these days. We’re calling them that now for those of you who take issue with them being called drones. You’re technically right, but hey, people are calling these toys drones so we’ll go with that too if you don’t mind. So, anyway, the Anura Pocket Drone packs a tiny low-res camera, is slightly larger than an iPhone, and can fly for up to 16 minutes on a charge. That makes it appealing to anyone who wishes they could play around with a drone but have always been put off by their size. And the smaller ones usually lack a camera, so the Anura pocket drone solves both issues: it’s small, super portable, and has a camera! The four propellers fold in to the frame, which is what allows its small size. WiFi connectivity extends its range, as well as it allows it to stream video directly to your smartphone. That’s some pretty fancy functionality for a device that’s going to cost you a $195 pledge. But you’ll sadly miss the holidays, since delivery is expected for April 2015.

Standing desks are all the rage these days. There are a number of purported health benefits to working while standing up, although they come with several risks and warnings too. At the end of the day, it all boils down to preference. If portability and cost are high up on your list, then you might want to get Refold.

It’s a foldable standing desk made from cardboard components, which makes it light enough to be assembled, disassembled, and transported by a single person. And since it’s made from cardboard, it’s 100% recyclable. Just don’t get it wet, and you should be fine.

Refold is currently up for funding on Kickstarter, where a minimum pledge of $115 will get you one of your very own.

VSSL Outdoor Utility Tools: Every Tool You Need in a Tube

VSSL Outdoor Utility Tools

Space is limited. Not just in the major cities of the world, but in your backpack too. There’s only so much you can fit into your backpack: your sleeping bag, maybe a thermos, some rations. But one thing you should definitely make room for is this flashlight-slash-tube of utility tools by VSSL. It’s ingenious, really.

They’ve made better use of the otherwise vacant space in the handle of a flashlight by filling it up with tins containing potentially life-saving stuff. Three types of VSSL utility tubes are available: Supplies, First Aid, and Shelter. Each one comes with a set of components all packed neatly into tin cans. For example, the Supplies tin comes with a Canadian beeswax candle, a razor blade, six Aquatabs water purification tablets, waterproof matches, fishing gear, firestars, and a signaling mirror, among other things.Continue Reading
