You’re Invited to a Generic Birthday Party

Generic Birthday Party

In this day and age where brands are plastered everywhere, it’s rare to see someone throw a party that’s completely generic. But that’s exactly what Chris did for his wife for her 35th birthday. There was a card, a bunch of balloons, gifts, games, and decorations, but they were all generic and definitely unlike most party favors.

They’re probably not what you’re used to, but I think that’s what makes the whole party so awesome.

Ready to Party? Heineken Debuts World’s First Interactive Bottle

Flashlight Beer

Glow sticks are so yesterday, because we’re in the age of light-up beer bottles now. At least, that’s the approach Heineken is taking with the concept that ad agency Tribal DDB came up for them. Heineken’s Jeremy Brook, who heads the digital and media innovation at the brewery, dubs it the “world’s first interactive beer bottle.”

The bottle itself comes with a green plastic base that’s equipped with a wireless sensor and LED lights. Whenever someone takes a swig from the bottle, the entire thing sparkles. When there’s music playing, the light will blink in sync with the beat. Totally makes you want to dance or at least bob your head to the music, right?

Red Plastic Cups for Every Fancy and Non-Fancy Occasion

Red Plastic Cup

Friends may come and go, people might get dropped off the invite list, but if there’s one thing that has remained consistent when it comes to parties, it’s the red solo cups. When the host begins handing them out, you know it’s time to get the party started.

For years, they’ve been used only to hold beer and other cold drinks and refreshments, but Red Cup Living wants to change all that with their new line of assorted plastic cups that are all based on the red solo cups. There’s the 14 oz. wine cup, a 15 oz. margarita cup, a 12 oz. cocktail cup and a shot cup (for lack of a better name to call it.)

The cups are molded from ABS plastic, so they’re usable and dishwasher safe. They might not look very classy but they’re definitely the funnest cups you can have around. Cup prices range from $4 to $10.

Party Buzzer Works Only While Drunk

Who said that tech hardware has to be useful all the time? What’s wrong with having a bit of pointless fun with it? The Buzzed Buzzer contains an alcohol sensor and will only work if it detects booze on your breath. Use enough of these at a party to ensure that anyone that looks like they’re having fun, is actually having fun. Well… not that you can’t have fun without alcohol, but you get our drift. Using a $16 Teensy 2.0 Microcontroller, a $5 MQ-3 Alcohol Gas Sensor, and a handful of other easily obtainable supplies, the Buzzed Buzzer is a surefire way to have drunk peeps making noise, eager as drunk people often are to prove their drunkenness. Unfortunately, this is not a product you can purchase at a store; the link at the bottom will lead you to very detailed instructions on how to make your own.
