World’s First Bacon-Powered Diesel Motorcycle Preparing For Cross Country Trip

Hormel Black Label Bacon Motorcycle

Bacon Week 2014 – International Bacon Film Festival 2014 is just a couple of weeks away and everyone will be looking forward to the “Driven by Bacon” documentary. This documentary is about a diesel motorcycle that runs on bacon grease fuel. Austin-based Hormel came up with the idea of powering a motorcycle dubbed Hormel Black Label Bacon Motorcycle that runs on B-100 bio-diesel which is converted from bacon waste into bio-diesel by bio-Blend Fuels in Winsconsin. The bike fuel costs just $3.50 a gallon and makes the motorcycle run 75-100 miles per gallon. Now, that is quite impressive since the demand for bio-fuel is paramount.

The Johammer J1 is a 125-Mile Range Electric Bike

Johammer J1 -

You ain’t seen nothing yet when it comes to electric bikes unless you’ve seen the Johammer J1. One thing that has discouraged a lot of people from going for electric motorcycles is the limited range, when compared to the gas-guzzling variety. You might argue that electric cars like the Tesla have great range for something that runs on electricity, but that’s because the fact that they’re cars means that they’ve got more space for batteries.

The Johammer J1 puts electric bikes back in the running though with its 125-mile range, which is way better than previous numbers. Its sleek and futuristic design and the fact that it looks pretty bad-ass is just icing on the cake.

Ain’t What It Seems: Covert Motorcycle Security Camera

Motorcycle Security Camera

Security cameras come in different shapes and sizes. Some are extremely small, such as the ones installed in clocks and fixtures, for example. Others are large but still discrete, like this motorcycle security camera by Japan Security System Co. As the name implies, it’s a security camera in the shape of a motorcycle. Despite being much larger than your typical security camera, it relies on just that to keep a low profile.

They’re meant to be installed at the entrances of hotels and other establishments where it would be uncommon to find a motorcycle there. Instead of head and tail lights, it has off-the-shelf video cameras installed instead. Two side-facing cameras are also installed on the seat.Continue Reading

The Lotus C-01 is a Helluva Superbike

Lotus C-01 superbike

Lotus is known for their four-wheelers, but they’ll soon be known for something other than that with the unveiling of their first motorcycle, the C-01, by Kodewa Performance Motorcycles. Designed by Daniel Simon with support from the Holzer Group, the C-01 comes equipped with a powerful engine encased in an aesthetically-pleasing chassis. Specifically, it’s powered by a 1.2-liter twin V2 engine that can produce up to 200HP and is dressed up in a chassis built from titanium, carbon fiber, and aerospace-quality steel.

With a dry weight of 400lb, that’s a power-to-weight ratio of 0.5HP/lb or 0.83kW/kg. So not only is it one sexy bike, but it’s also mighty powerful, too.

EntroSys Air Conditioning For Motorcycles

EntroSys-Motorcycle-Air-Con

By Evan Ackerman

You’ve got a motorcycle. It’s hot out. Do you put on a t-shirt and ride around like a comfortable badass, or put on a protective suit and ride around like someone who wears a protective suit to ride around on motorcycles and is also really freakin’ hot a lot of the time? Now, thanks to an Israeli company called EntroSys, you can have all of that at once, except for the badass part. Oh well.

The EntroSys BikeAir-1 is a little air conditioner and heater that sits on the cargo area of your motorcycle and plugs into the 12v outlet, complete with a controller that clips to the handlebars. There’s a tube that comes out of it that pumps either cold or warm air through a special vest that you wear underneath your gear. If you have motorcycle or a scooter (or even if you don’t just think of the possibilities!), you’re probably wondering how much this thing goes for, and so am I: there’s no price listed yet, but if you pre-order one, you can get 20% off! …Of …Whatever it is.

Look for the system to be available sometime this summer.
