Epic Bars Ditch The Whey, Go All-Meat Instead

epic-bar

If you’re the kind of person who’s going to snack on protein bars between meals, you might be getting sick of the tasteless sludge that most of them are made from. Usually containing a mix of whey powder alongside other stabilizers meant to camouflage their questionable taste, modern bars have hardly any recognizable ingredients in them. But Epic bars are different. Made from 100% grass fed animals, they simply trade whey proteins for actual meat fibers, alongside a few other natural ingredients. They are low sugar, gluten-free, and Paleo-friendly snacks with flavours like “Bison Bacon Cranberry, Turkey Almond Cranberry, Beef Habanero Cherry, and Lamb Currant Mint.” We’re not sure whether they taste good, but we like to imagine them as “jerky mixed with stuff”, and frankly that sounds appealing. It’s $21 for a pack of 6.

Meaty Holidays: Santa Claus Meatloaf

Santa Claus Meatloaf

The holidays are in full swing! The tree is up, the presents are wrapped and piled neatly underneath, and everyone’s heading over to grandma’s to meet, catch up, and present some random relatives with some ugly Christmas sweaters. Then there’s that one relative who comes to the party with some creative-but-creepy-looking Santa Claus meatloaf.

If someone actually does show up with something that at least resembles the one pictured here, then you’ll know where they got the idea from: Chef Charles Phoenix.

‘Meat Parade’ is the Hammiest Record Ever

Meat Parade

Crazy over meat? Then march to the beat of two meat-themed songs from Archie McPhee’s newly-released record that’s aptly called Meat Parade. It’s a limited-edition record that looks like a “beautifully marbled ham steak”–is anyone getting hungry after looking at this record? I know I am.

Only a thousand of these meaty records have ever been produced, so if you’ve been collecting other meat-themed items from Archie McPhee (like the Meat Parade Lunchbox and Meat Parade Wrapping Paper Book), then you might want to hurry and pick one of these up before they’re gone for good.

Check It Out: It’s Mega Meat!

Megaman Meat

The dude in charge of the meat department at the Uwajimaya supermarket in Seattle probably had too much time on his hands. It’s either that or he’s just a huge Mega Man fan because he molded, shaped, and formed the ground pork and beef into two well-known characters from the Mega Man franchise.

On the left is a fierce-looking porky version of Cut Man, while the right features Mega Man in all his beefy splendor. It’s pretty cool but gross in a raw-meat sort of way. Nonetheless, I’m sure many shoppers did a double and triple-take when they saw these trays on display at the store.

Meat Gift Wrap: Give the Gift of Unedible Meat

Meat Wrapping Paper

Just imagine the look on people’s faces when you hand them a huge, chunk of meat packed in styro and cellophane. They’ll say the obligatory “thank you’s” but it’ll take them a while to process the fact that you just gave them the present of raw meat. Of course, they’ll eventually figure it out and everyone will have a few laughs. On a side note, you can see the true measure of your friendship with them during those critical moments: will they scoff at your gift, or will they accept it wholeheartedly?

Kidding aside, this Meat Gift Wrap by Gift Couture takes novelty wrappers to the next level. The steak wrapping paper transforms any present into something that resembles class A meat. It also comes with a bunch of extras, like cutting board paper and meat trays to give it a more authentic, straight-from-the-butcher look.

Raw Fashion: Meat Bags, Shoes, and Accessories

Meat Handbag

Raw doesn’t always translate into cutting edge. But that might be the case with this very unusual collection by artist Andrea Hasler that features meat handbags, accessories, and shoes. In case you’re wondering, she didn’t use real meat to come up with this series. She used a special type of wax instead that mimicked the look of raw meat.

Knowing that doesn’t really lessen the ick factor, does it?

Climate-Controlled Box of Bacon: The World’s Most Tasty Gift

Climate Controlled Bacon

No meat has ever garnered the same massive fandom that bacon has. It’s meaty, it’s smoky, it’s tasty, and you could cook it so that it’s chewy, crunchy, or somewhere in between. You could grill it with meat to make the tastiest steaks ever, or throw a couple of strips into your burger to make it infinitely better.

Father’s day is fast approaching, so if you’re stumped on what gift to get your dad, then here’s an idea for you: how about climate-controlled boxes filled with tasty strips of bacon by Oscar Meyer?

Meat Shot Glasses–Because Bacon Tequila Tastes Better With Meat

Meatball Shotglass

Don’t drink alcohol on an empty stomach. Don’t drink more than you can handle. And don’t drink and drive. Those are the three rules that every drinker should know and take to heart, because as long as you follow all three, then you’ll be fine. Or at least, let’s hope you will be.

Helping you along with the first of these rules is the newest craze in the alcoholosphere (I know, there’s no such word but I like how it sounds): Meat Shot Glasses. They were thought up by the meat-loving collective known as ManBQue and while they don’t look like the prettiest things in the world, they’re actually a pretty cool concept. These are basically just shot glasses wrapped in meat balls and then grilled for your dining and drinking pleasure.

For best results, use these glasses to down your Bacon Vodka. Enjoy!
