Must-Have Tech For Busy Mompreneurs

The following article is written by Sophie Davidson in collaboration with T-mobile. -Ed.

As a mom and a business owner, you probably feel like one of those circus jugglers who can keep 20 plates spinning in the air at once. Of course, if the circus performer loses a plate, the only consequence is some broken ceramic, but if you let one of your “plates” fall, you might miss an important deadline, forget to take your child to a checkup or overlook an important email.

In order to stay as organized as possible, “mompreneurs” can use a variety of technology that will support you in both your business and mom-related endeavors. Here are following four ideas:

A Sturdy Phone
To stay on top of all that you need to do, you need more than a tiny, delicate mobile phone with limited features. What will really help you to get through your busy days is a durable and technologically advanced phone. T-Mobile’s new HTC One M9 comes with all of the bells and whistles that you’ve come to expect from a mobile phone — with a durable twist. The phone’s no-gap, all-metal body not only looks amazing, it helps protect the phone from accidental drops. And, if your kids get a hold of it for a few rounds of “Angry Birds” once you are done with your conference call, T-Mobile’s cleverly named “Uh Oh Warranty” lets you replace your phone if your child accidentally breaks it. As a bonus, this premium care plan comes at no extra charge.

Elastic Shoelaces Are For The More… Efficient Among Us

Ok, fine, just call us lazy. But given the opportunity to not tie our shoelaces on a daily basis, why say no? That’s not to say we should turn to Velcro. What are we, 5? But these Elastic Shoelaces seem like a good in-between. They’re made from “a memory-fit performance elastomer’, which is BS-speak for ‘elastic material’… but they do at least look decent and give you the option to customize your fit. Whether you like your footwear tight or loose, you can pick the size for you and never have to worry about tying anything ever again; just loop through, and snap together. Each pack contains 14 of them, and costs $15.

OakBottle Infuses Your Alcohols With Flavour

It’s well known that a lot of spirits and even wines are aged in oak bottles, in order to impart some flavours. There are even special wood sticks that you can put in your alcohol to flavour it. Well, the OakBottle uses a similar process, except instead of putting wood in your alcohol, you’re invited to put your alcohol in the OakBottle, which, obviously, is made of oak. After filling it with water for 24h in order to swell it up and seal any potential leaks, you simply place your wine or spirits inside and wait another 24h to 48h, and enjoy your now-infused libations. Each bottle is good for 50 uses, and they comes in various flavours like Maple, Vanilla, Coffee, etc. It’s $90 for one, and $120 for two.

Never Ties Shoelaces Again With Zubits Magnetic Shoe Closures

Zubits magnetic shoe closures

Why tie shoelaces when you don’t have to? You won’t have to worry about your shoelaces getting untied ever again with Zubits. It’s a magnetic shoe closure that works with your existing laces to make lacing up infinitely faster– which makes sense, since no actual tying is involved. All you have to do is thread the laces into Zubits, cut off the excess lace (how long or how short you’d like your laces to be depends on you), and snap it closed. It’s that simple.

When you’re ready to slip your shoes off, just push your foot forward to break the connection. The downside is that they might not hold up to rigorous activity or sports (note the keyword there: might), but you could always give it a go to test its limits yourself.
