KFC UK To Offer Coffee In An Edible Cup

It seems KFC will be offering Seattle’s Best Coffee branded brew in a special drinking vessel soon: edible cups. That’s right, after you’re done sipping on your cup o’ Joe, you can just eat the container it came in. KFC did this by partnering up with

food scientists at The Robin Collective to create the ice cream cone-inspired vessel, dubbed “Scoff-ee Cup”, which is made from a biscuit wrapped in sugar paper and lined with a layer of white chocolate. Over time, the cup will soften to the point where it melts in your mouth.

The cups will also be enhanced with questionable “mood improving aromas”, such as “coconut sun cream”, “freshly cut grass” and “wild flowers” which are intended to “evoke the positive memories we associate with warm weather, sunshine and summer holidays.”

We don’t know for how long the cups are able to keep the liquid in without leaking, but for those of you who like to sip on cold coffee throughout the day (like me), this might be a risky proposition.

The cups are being introduced to mark the launch of KFC’s Seattle’s Best Coffee across its UK branches. They aren’t ready yet, so don’t go running to your local branch just yet; the hope is that they will be by summer.

KFC’s Double Down Dog Needs To Make Its Way Stateside, Pronto

Look, we know what you’re going to say. It’s gross! What was KFC thinking?! Oh my God, what an atrocity. And yet… and yet we want to feast on this ridiculous creation by everyone’s favourite fried chicken joint. It’s called the Double Down Dog and is the Colonel’s version of a hot dog, except the bread bun is actually fried chicken. If that doesn’t blow your mind, then we suppose you’re not into food quite like we are. That’s ok, we sympathize with more sensible hearts; not everyone likes to eat dangerously. And KFC apparently feels that way too because the Double Down Dog was only available in extremely limited quantities, for two days… in the Philippines! That’s right, this beautiful monster was only to be sold at a select number of outlets in the Philippines, and each restaurant was limited to selling 50 of these a day. Why? We don’t know. But we’d love to start a campaign to convince the executives that there’s a market for this stateside. Because there is. Right? Right?

Keep reading for a picture of it in the flesh.

A Drumstick For Your Ear? KFC Drumstick iPhone Cover

KFC Drumstick iPhone Cover

KFC Japan is at it again. Remember the chicken keyboard and mouse they recently offer to their patrons? It looks like their higher-ups decided that that wasn’t enough, so they came up with the drumstick iPhone cover. It’s so ridiculous that it almost makes you want one, just for the heck of it. Even Colonel Sanders looks like he’s rolling on the floor laughing like there’s no tomorrow (in case you’re wondering, his speech bubble says something along the lines of “Why is it so big?”)

Well, that’s what we’re wondering, too. The only way to get one of the cases was to win it from KFC Japan. Dang, that’s a huge case. Ironically, it’s making me not want to eat chicken after looking at it.

KFC Keyboard: Hungrier By the Letter

KFC Keyboard

A keyboard made by KFC that’s covered with tiny(but still yummy-looking) pieces of chicken and drumstick-shaped flash drives? Where else can you expect to find gadgets like these but Japan? Of course, it’s not complete without a mouse…so KFC Japan threw in a drumstick mouse into the mix, too!

Granted, the only letters you’ll find on the keyboard are K, F, and C. You’ll have a lot of guesswork to do with the other letters if you’re not used to typing without glancing down at the letters on your keyboard anymore.

Care for a Bowl, er, Piece of Deep-Fried Soup?

Fried Soup

Leave it to Japan to come up with a completely new way to have soup. While the rest of the world drinks soup by slurping it out of bowls or scooping it up with a spoon, KFC Japan is serving it deep-fried. Diners can now hold their golden brown nuggets of soup in their hands before taking a bite to savor hot soup.

I’m not sure deep-frying soup is the best idea in the world, since some diners might be left with burnt tongues afterwards, but it’s definitely an interest take on soup. What do you think?

If you happen to be in Japan right now, then do drop by one of the KFCs there so you can sample this unique offering, which will be available for a limited time only.
