Set Of Pistols Crafted From 4.5 Billion Year Old Meteorite

cabot-gun

A really long time ago, a meteorite landed in what is now Gibeon, Namibia. The space rock itself is estimated to have been formed around the same time the Earth was: 4.5 billion years ago. And now, a US company called Cabot Guns took a 77 pound fragment from the impact, and used that to forge two classic M1911 pistols, originally made by none other than Colt. Their creation looks stunning, clearly highlighting the otherworldly nature of the material that forms it. It’s called the Big Bang Pistol Set, and it’s a one-of-a-kind item that is expected to be worth around $5 million. They’re not only decorative either:

The pistols are fully-functional – and resultant of their National Match barrels, accurate; verified both on the rest and in off-hand shooting. Leaving nothing to chance in terms of functionality, our engineers used electron beam technology to meticulously add bimetal support only to the frame/slide rails, hammer, guide rod and extractor of the Big Bag set. – and the pistol’s components, down to the barrel bushing and trigger – are 100% Gibeon meteorite.

That’s really all there is to say about this, so come on over the fold and admire this work of art in a series of fascinating photos.

Double-Barelled Pistol Disguises As A Smartphone

Ideal-Conceal-Double-Barrel-.380-Caliber-Smartphone-Pistol-Featured-image-672x372

Looking at the top picture, you’d think you’re seeing a regular smartphone with a rugged case. But then you look at the bottom picture and you realize that, yes, this could in fact be a pistol just like the headlines says. It’s a project by a company called Ideal Conceal, and it takes the concept of “conceal carry” a couple of steps further. To be honest, we’re not sure how to feel about it. Sure, you can make the case that you might want to be able to walk around with the stopping power of a Double Barrel .380 in your pocket without alarming the whole neighbourhood, but the idea just seems ripe for abuse. And in any case, we’re not even sure it’s real, despite the website claiming they’ll charge $395 for it when it becomes available mid-2016. We’ll keep an eye on the space and update you.

If It’s Firepower You Want, This Airsoft Grenade Launcher Has You Covered

airsoft-grenade-launcher

We were pretty impressed with the Echo1 M134 MiniGun Airsoft Machine Gun we wrote about in January. But if you decide to pair that with this ICS-190 GLM Grenade Launcher, then you’ve officially gone Full Rambo, and you can colour us awestruck. Now, if you’re going to go ‘Full Rambo’, you may as well do it Airsoft-style because no one really likes maniacs with real MiniGuns and grenade launchers outside of a military context.

The ICS GLM full size 6-round revolving grenade launcher is a sight to behold. It is a fully-functioning grenade launcher that features an impact-resistant polymer frame, with metallic revolving chambers that can house up to 6x 40mm Airsoft grenade shells.

The GLM also features a fully integrated rail system, which allows for easy installation of necessities such as grips, lasers, flashlights, and even has a top rail for optics (holo-sight on your grenade launcher, anybody?). A tactical ergonomic vertical foregrip is included in the package for shooting stability, and is removable should you want to replace it with a grip or other accessory of your own.

The rear stock is a tactical 6-point adjustable/retractable L.E. carbine-style stock, which is also adjustable to three different angles (for your shooting comfort) to dial in the optimal shooting position, whether you are standing, crouching, crawling, or running. Quick detach sling swivel points are also integrated onto the frame of the GLM to allow for easy sling attachment.

It’s $130.

This Knife Is A Gun

Arsenal-Gun-Knife

Options. Everything is life is about options, isn’t it? And about the choices you make given the options you have. For example, you have this mean looking blade in your hand. You could use it to stab or cut your aggressor. But you have another option: shoot! It’s not an option you normally have when wielding a blade, which is why it caught our attention. It loads six .22 caliber bullets, and is fired via a special trigger. It’s overkill, sure, but it’s pretty badass.

We don’t know much else about it, other than maybe it’s imported by Arsenal Firearms in Las Vegas and allegedly sells for $2,000. Also something or other about being made for Russian armed forces, but we can’t confirm this as fact. Still, now you know this exists.

Oh, and we would make some kind of joke about bringing a knife to a gun fight if we had any comedic talent.

Move Over Hollow-Points, This R.I.P. 9mm Ammo Means Business

rip-ammo

What’s the use in shooting your assailant if he can still keep coming at you? If you’re gonna stop him, stop him for good. The above 9mm R.I.P. bullet, from G2Research in Georgia, claims to be “The Last Round You’ll Ever Need”, and looking at its construction, we’re tempted to believe them. It’s a CNC machined projectile made from copper, which has 8 separating “Trocar-shaped bits that are designed specifically to damage your internal organs. They’ll split apart as the bullet rips through your tissue, and create a 6″ diameter spread of destruction inside of you. The remainder of the bullet continues in a straight path, penetrating up to 16″.

There’s all kinds of fancy talk of features on the website, but really that’s all you need to know. It’s a bullet with 8 metal bits that separate into a cone of death upon impact. We don’t know how much they cost, but production is underway. Hit the jump for links and video.

The Only Time You’ll Ever Fire A Minigun And Not Destroy Everything Around You

Screen Shot 2014-01-14 at 10.37.37 AM

This is a toy, and it’s a pretty serious one. Matter of fact, it’s about as serious a toy as we’ve ever seen, since you’re going to have to fork out $3,900 to own it. For that amount though, you get the Echo1 M134 MiniGun Airsoft Machine Gun, which will launch an astonishing stream of plastic pellets at a rate of “several thousand rounds per minute”. This battery-powered, hip-mounted, 35-lbs monstrosity fires its rounds at 390fps, fast enough to pierce through glass tubing (as per the video). A 1,700 round magazine ensures you don’t run out of ammo in a split second, and it comes with two interchangeable barrels of differing lengths. The whole kit ships in a wooden crate and comes with a certificate of authenticity.

These Shotgun Shells Shoot Flower Seeds, Not Death Pellets

flower-shells

In a somewhat poetic move, these 12 gauge shotgun shells are packed with flower seeds alongside the gunpowder, so that you may give life with every shot, rather than the other way around. Flower Shells, as they’re called, have less powder than usual so as not to fry the delicate seeds; we’re going to hope that enough testing was done to ensure that it actually works. But that’s really about it. The project is on IndieGogo and is fully funded. For $50 you get 4 shells of either Peony, Corn Flower or “Red Field Poppy – FLANDERS – PAPAVER RHOEAS.” Even though it’s only 4 shells, there are lots of seeds in each shell, so you may end up with little patches of flowers where you took your shot.

Sure, it’s a lot of money for what seems like a novelty item, but maybe it’ll help you atone for all the turkeys you shot this season…

Shot Pellets Made From Seasoning Fill Your Bird Up With Flavor

seasoning-shotgun-ammo

Flashback to 2006, where news of this first came out, and when it seems we were looking the other way. You see hunting, controversial a practice as you may want, is still going on strong in most parts of the world. And while filling birds up with shot may satisfy our primal instinct to kill other living creatures, it also has the unfortunate side effect of filling them up with inedible steel at the same time. Not if you pack your rifle with Season Shot. The shot pellets are actually tightly packed seasoning, which supposedly don’t disintegrate under the extreme stress of being ejected at high speeds by gaseous propellant. Instead of peppering the bird with metal, you’ll be seasoning it with Cajun, Lemon Pepper, Garlic, Teriyaki, or Honey Mustard flavors.

At least, those are the claims. Sadly, once you dig a little deeper and realize that even 7 years later the website still hasn’t announced a release date or an expected price, you get the sense that maybe this was just someone’s wishful thinking. Or pet project that didn’t pan out. But… with the crowdfunding avenues now available to the everyday inventor, how hard can it be to get something like this off the ground? Is it physically impossible? Any gun geeks out there to enlighten the rest of us?

Miniature Portal Gun Replica More Affordable Than Its Larger Cousin

People are clearly in love with the game Portal. Why not? It’s a great way to spend a weekend and once you’ve contorted your brain through its mountain of puzzles, you too will likely develop an affection for its various artifacts. Just this summer we told you about Portal Turret replica. And today we’re bringing news of a smaller version of the Portal Gun that came out a while ago. It’s only 1 ft. long and weighs about 1 lb. It’s got orange and blue LEDs and emits a unique sound that corresponds to each color and it works pretty much like the gun in the game, minus the portal creating abilities. Purchase-o-mania (aka Christmas) is coming, so this could make a pretty cool gift, especially considering the “handsome, full-color gift box” it comes in. $60 will tick one box from that list of yours. It’s designed and sold by ThinkGeek, so you know it’ll be great!
