Rockin’ Bricks: 20 Famous Bands Recreated In LEGO

LEGO Bands

What you can make with LEGO bricks is limitless, especially if you’re creative and have the ability to envision while you put them together, brick by brick. These are qualities that LEGO builder extraordinaire Adly Syairi Ramly doesn’t have a shortage of, which his latest work clearly shows.

Adly has recently unveiled a gallery of twenty iconic bands recreated using nothing but LEGO bricks, including the likes of the Beastie Boys, Beatles, Smashing Pumpkins, and Foo Fighters.Continue Reading

Droolin’ Over Bricks: LEGO Food That Looks Good Enough to Eat

LEGO Food

Above is what pancakes slathered in syrup and topped with butter would look like if we lived in a pixelated world. We don’t, but that didn’t stop master Lego builder Sachiko Akinaga from putting together this gallery of scrumptious-looking dishes using nothing but Lego bricks. It’s hard enough–at least, for me–to build something from sets that contain actual instructions, so what Sachiko achieved here is no small feat.

Aside from the most common breakfast food ever, he also built a banana (that has just been peeled), some sushi, and even a burger. Hit the break to check out the rest of his work.Continue Reading

Cheesy Batman Valentines From the Past

Batman Valentines

Batman is the epitome of cool when it comes to superheroes. He’s rich, good-looking, and he’s got the coolest set of wheels and weapons at his disposal. But back in the day, he also happened to be featured in the cheesiest of Valentines. Corny quotes and one-liners with a (seemingly) forced lovey-dovey twist, it seems like this gallery has it all.

Check it out after the jump.

On-the-Road Art: Artist’s Hilarious Sketches of His Fellow Passengers

Drawing Passengers

What do you do when you’re on a bus or on the subway? When there are no sights to see outside and you’re bored with all the apps on your phone (including the game that cannot be won, Flappy Bird), what is there left to do?

At this point, I just take a quick nap or listen to some music, but what artist October Jones does is play a game. He sketches up a new head for other passengers and then holds them up over the actual person’s head to show what a good fit the new head is. You can check out more of his on-the-go artwork after the break.

2013 Year In Review, Play-Doh Style

Play Doh Year in Review

Looking back on 2013, would you say that it was a good year or a bad year? For most people, I think the good stuff and the bad stuff balance out in the end. If there was more good than bad, then good for you. If there was more bad than good, then here’s to hoping you’ll have better luck in 2014.

Presenting some of the most memorable moments of 2013 is Play Doh with their Year in Review series that you can check out on their social media pages: FacebookTwitter and Instagram. For starters, we all learned what sound the fox makes (no thanks to Ylvis). Hit the break to check out more notable events from 2013 done up in Play-Doh style.

These Photoshop Parody Ads Are Spot On

Photoshop Parody Ads

Every day, people look at their reflections on the mirror and mentally list down everything that’s wrong with their faces. Their pores. Their eyes. Their skin. Their hair. Their eyebrows. Their nose. The picture-perfect mugs of celebrities and models in magazines certainly don’t help any. But what a lot of people don’t realize is that most of them look like that thanks to PhotoShop. Sure, there are a lot of natural beauties out there, but most images that appear in print media are retouched in one way or another.

Highlighting the features of the image-editing software in a tongue-in-cheek manner is artist and photographer Anna Hill  with her series of parody PhotoShop ads called “Beauty is Only Pixel Deep.”

Sebastian Errazuriz’s ’12 Shoes for 12 Lovers’ are Wearable Art With Rich Backstories

12 Shoes for 12 Lovers-2

Relationships, regardless of how serious they are, will impact your life in one way or another. This is specially true in Sebastian Errazuriz’s case, who used his past relationships and experiences with ex-girlfriends as inspiration to create 12 Shoes for 12 Lovers. It’s essentially a collection of twelve shoe sculptures that capture the essence of the women and the relationship that he had with them.

For example, the shoe pictured above, “Cry Baby” Alexandra, is about a weeping girl who came to him after a particularly bad break-up. Another shoe in the series, “Gold Digger” Alison, is about a girl who left him for her rich boss (exactly what the name implies.)

You can find the rest of the shoes in the series after the break.

Histagram: History as It Happened on Instagram

Histagram

You know something’s really popular when people start making meant-to-go-viral galleries based on that certain something. In this case, it’s Instagram and fictional posts made by well-known figures. There was the Harry Potter Instagram gallery last week, and the most recent one that’s making the rounds is Histagram, which features well-known historical figures posting about key events.

The people and the events are real, but clearly the posts are not. The images are lifted from movies, random pictures, and edited images, which are put into proper context by their captions. Hit the break for a couple more.

Even Princesses Have Facial Fuzz: Disney’s Princesses with Beards

Disney Princesses with Beards

I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but it seems like a lot of people are hung up on beards lately (remember the Super Beards that Braun used in their ads?) It’s not limited to human beards either, because cat beards are pretty hot, too. And while only men have beards in real life, BuzzFeed’s  decided that women can rock them, too, and came up with a gallery featuring Disney’s princesses sporting flowing manes on their scalps and on their chins. [Let’s not forget it’s Movember! -Ed.]

Meet the Bearded Mermaid, the Sleeping Beardy, Beardahontas, and more in his amusing gallery, which you can check out after the break.
