Eat It, Drink It, Love It: Effervescent Bacon Drink Tabs

Bacon Drink Tabs

If you think that bacon was the greatest thing to ever come along since sliced bread, then you might be one of the few who can actually drink the resulting concoction when a one of these effervescent bacon tabs is dropped into a glass of water (or even worse, into a glass of juice or soda!)

These are what its name claims they are. Bacon is the meat that has inspired dozens upon dozens of stuff, from pillows and soap to deodorant and coffee, but sometimes, you have to wonder where to draw the line between cool and quirky to plain weird and gross. Well, these bacon tabs will let you add that distinct smoky, meaty flavor to any drink you desire. The only question is: can you stomach it?

A tin of effervescent bacon tabs costs $2.35.

Skyscraper Candles: Taller Than Your Average Candle

Skyscraper Candle

You won’t want to light these skyscraper candles if you have other plain candles left in the house for obvious reasons. They’ll light up your room if the electricity goes out, but they double as unusual works of art when the lights are on. These candles, which were thought up by Jing Jing Naihan Li, were on display at the Beijing Design Week last year. Now they’re available online so you can display them in your home or “burn down” the metropolis when the mood strikes.

Each candle is sold separately starting at $39. Definitely pricey for a candle, but then again, they aren’t your typical candles with each measuring about 40cm in height.

BriefSkate is a Skateboard With a Hidden Compartment

BriefSkate

Bikes have their baskets and motorcycles have their trunks. But what about skateboards? Most conventional boards don’t have an extra compartment where you can stash some spare cash or other essential stuff, but the BriefSkate does. Its name is a play on briefcase, which is kind of apt because the way the skateboard opens to reveal a hidden compartment is kind of like how a briefcase opens.

The added weight might slow you down so make sure you keep that spare change elsewhere.

The team behind the BriefSkate will be launching a campaign on Kickstarter soon. You can sign up for alerts on their website here.

These Photoshop Parody Ads Are Spot On

Photoshop Parody Ads

Every day, people look at their reflections on the mirror and mentally list down everything that’s wrong with their faces. Their pores. Their eyes. Their skin. Their hair. Their eyebrows. Their nose. The picture-perfect mugs of celebrities and models in magazines certainly don’t help any. But what a lot of people don’t realize is that most of them look like that thanks to PhotoShop. Sure, there are a lot of natural beauties out there, but most images that appear in print media are retouched in one way or another.

Highlighting the features of the image-editing software in a tongue-in-cheek manner is artist and photographer Anna Hill  with her series of parody PhotoShop ads called “Beauty is Only Pixel Deep.”

SickWeather Maps Out Where the Sick People Are So You Can Avoid Them

SickWeather

Getting sick sucks. Catching a bug during the holidays sucks even more. Sick people are around us all the time. Some might be mere carriers, while others might already be sick even though they aren’t exhibiting any symptoms just yet. If you want to minimize the odds of bumping into someone who has a cold or is down with the flu, then you might want to check out SickWeather before you leave the house.

SickWeather’s advanced logarithm analyzes posts and status updates by users on social media networks like Facebook and Twitter and checks for any mention of illness or sickness. It takes note of the places where these illnesses or sicknesses are mentioned and flags these locations down on the map. Alternatively, you can also search by specific illnesses on the map to see which sites are relatively safe (cough and cold zones) and which sites are places that you should definitely avoid (chicken pox-infested areas.)

Check out SickWeather here.

Wink Glasses Fog Up To Prevent Computer Vision Syndrome

Wink Glasses

A lot of people who use computers end up with dry eyes because they don’t blink as much as they should. Attempting to correct that and encourage users to blink at regular intervals are the Wink Glasses. The lenses fog up and become opaque for a tenth to two tenths of a second every ten seconds, forcing the wearer to blink or wink in the process.

The glasses prevent more than just the discomfort from dry eyes. It also prevents computer vision syndrome, which is caused by “focusing the eyes on a computer display for uninterrupted periods of time.” People with CVS report have reported headaches, eye redness, and even double vision, which makes the whole thing a complete pain to have.

High-Tech Ugly Christmas Sweaters With Animated Designs are Still Ugly

High Tech Christmas Sweater

These are Christmas sweaters by Digital Dudz and they’re as tacky and ugly, like you’d expect ugly Christmas sweaters to be. They’re a lot more high tech compared to your typical sweater though, because the designs actually come to life. Some sweaters have fireplaces that burn bright, the one with the snowglobe has snow falling randomly, while two others that feature Santa and an adorable kitten have eyes that periodically move sideways.

Creepy? Yes. Nice? No. Still ugly? Definitely.

The sweater has a velcro pocket on the inside that can fit most mobile devices, include an iTouch, iPhone, or a Samsung Galaxy S3. The mobile device, in turn, runs the free companion app, which provides the animation.

Each animated Ugly Christmas Sweater is priced at $54.95.
