Check Out the World’s Smallest Arcade Machine

Smallest Arcade

If you have big thumbs or fat fingers, then you might as well give up on this arcade machine because you won’t be able to score much on it at all. This here is the teeniest arcade machine you’ve probably ever seen in your whole life, and it looks all kinds of awesome.

The mini machine, which measures only 4.88 x 2.05 x 2.35in, was built by computer engineer Mark Slevinsky. It’s one of the many impressive gaming-related feats featured in the Guinness World Records 2013 Gamers Edition, where it was recognized as the smallest arcade machine in the world.

The best part? It actually lets you play clones of classic arcade games like TetrisSpace Invaders, and Breakout on it.

Shadow of the Colossus External Hard Drive is Colossally Awesome

Shadow of Colossus Hard Drive

Shadow of the Colossus is one of the most amazing video games ever. And if the rumors are right, then it’s going to be turned into a hopefully awesome movie as well. Something else that has to do with the franchise is this modded external hard drive that was made by a creative fan of the game.

For the mod, user foxfoxwaltz took a regular, old hard drive and turned it into this colossally awesome figure of Quadratus using only cardboard, some plaster, a whole lot of spraypaint, and some moss and lichens. It sounds simple but it’s obviously not that easy. You can see more of the actual building process here.

This Giant iPhone is a Tribute to Steve Jobs

Giant iPhone

Steve Jobs was a visionary, and the world will forever remember him as Apple’s staunch and dedicated leader. Although he may be gone, his memory and legacy will never be forgotten. Numerous online and real-world tributes flooded media when Jobs passed away, and another one of gigantic proportions has just popped up.

What you see above is a giant replica of the iPhone that was created as a monument for Jobs as part of a local competition. The display features a slideshow of the late Apple CEO’s career highlights, along with bits and pieces about the history of Apple. There’s also a QR code on the back of the monument that, when scanned, directs the user to a website commemorating the life and legacy of Steve Jobs.

The giant iPhone currently on display on the grounds of the St. Petersburg National Research University of Information Technologies, Mechanics and Optics.

oneTesla: Fancy Building Your Very Own DIY Singing Tesla Coil?

OneTesla

If you paid attention in all your science classes, then you know very well who Nikola Tesla is. If you didn’t but paid attention to the Oatmeal, then you’ll probably agree that Tesla was the greatest geek who ever lived. Aside from his numerous inventions in numerous fields, most of which he didn’t get credit for, he has also imparted us with the gift of electric music.

Okay, so he probably didn’t intend for his coil to be used to produce music, but apparently, it can be used to do just that and the people behind the oneTesla want you to do it. Only those who can actually build one, however, will be able to enjoy the fruits (or is it songs?) from their labor, because they’ll have to build their own Tesla coil from the provided parts. And from the looks of it, it’s not going to be easy.

Compressorhead Does Motörhead: Now This is a Real Heavy Metal Band

Robot Band

Robots, robots everywhere. I bet only a handful of scientists and researchers foresaw what would happen down the line in the field of robotics. I think it’s safe to say that it has come a long way from its earlier days, since we’ve already got dancing robots that can do the Gangnam Style and even a couple that could replace bartenders in the future.

This time around, we stumbled upon a robotic duo that redefines what people can come to expect from ‘heavy metal bands’ in the future, because as you’ll soon see in the clip above the break, they don’t necessarily have to be human.

Cookie Cup Lets You Drink Your Coffee–And Eat It Too

Cookie Cup

When stuff like burger wrappers become edible, you kind of get the feeling that more things are bound to follow suit. After all, who’d have thunk it? I’m still iffy over the whole edible wrapper thing though, although I am kind of curious.

Hot on its heels, though, are these edible cookie cups that aren’t that much unusual since they are just basically cookies. They’re still extremely creative and will probably be very appealing to coffee drinkers who love to chew on some cookies while they sip their joe.

‘Re: Sound Bottle’ Will Record the Soundtrack of Your Life

Sound Bottle

Before anything else, no, this girl isn’t blowing this bottle dry nor is she talking to it. Rather, she’s actually sort of talking into it, but not in a crazy or weird way at all because it’s actually supposed to be a recorder. And by ‘it’, we mean the ‘Re: Sound Bottle’.

It’s a concept by Jun Fujiwara from Tama Art University and it’s pretty awesome. It’s meant to capture the ‘music’ in our every day lives in a very interesting way. To begin recording, just uncork the bottle and it’ll pick up any sounds, if there are any. These sounds are stored in the bottle’s memory and an audio database is eventually created as more sounds are added. Tracks are then selected to create rhythmic numbers made up of all the individual sounds you’ve saved so far.

Syringe Shooters Deliver Just What the Doctor Ordered for the New Year

Syringe Shots

Many believed that 2012 would spell the end of the world as we know it. However, we’re all still here, alive and kicking, with the new year upon us in just a matter of days. I have a lot to be thankful for this year, and I’m sure you do, too. But maybe we should all be most thankful for the fact that we’ve got another year ahead of us to make things right and do what we’ve always wanted to do so we wouldn’t have any regrets when or if the world does finally end.

The New Year is traditionally greeted with a bang, both indoors and outdoors. Firecrackers take care of the latter, while the former is comprised of free-flowing drinks and parties all around with the people who matter the most. What better way to toast to a new year than by drinking controlled amounts of booze in these Syringe Shooters–just like your doctor ordered. They come in a trio of syringes for thrice the fun and triple the merriment.

These Syringe Shooters are sold in sets of three for $15.95.

So Uh… Don’t Microwave A Cellphone

So this is as old as the world (as can be seen from the top notch brick cellphone in question) but still kind of fun to watch. Yeah… don’t put cellphones in a microwave.
