Monitors are reaching the floor in terms of prices. Where the drops used to be huge, they are now marginal, but even a little bit is better than no bit. So with that in mind, let’s take a look at the Dell S2440L. It’s a 24 inch LED-backlit LCD featuring an almost frameless, edge-to-edge 1080p screen. With a 6ms response time, 250 nit brightness, and a 5000:1 typical contrast ratio, it’s a decent monitor, but all the more so in that it costs $269 after today’s rebate.

Not all monitors are created equal. Some, like the model above, are more of an input device than a passive, uh, looking device. This means the Dell S2340T is a multi-touch monitor with “10-point touch, edge-to-edge glass, flexible design and Full HD 1920 x 1080 resolution. Sports wide range of connectivity options thanks to DisplayPort, HDMI, Ethernet and USB 3.0 ports.” That is quite a bit more than a passive screen, and accordingly costs more. Normally priced at $699, today you can have it for $649.

With the amount of laptops we cover in this column, it should be pretty clear that dual-core processors are still pretty much the norm. There’s a smattering of quad-cores, now and then, but it’s mostly two. We perk up a little bit when we see four cores running as one, even if its of the Core i5 variety.
