New Captain America Collectible Figure is the Hero We Need

HTCWCapAmBattle1

With the highly anticipated world premiere of Captain America: Civil War on May 6th, toy manufacturers have released brand new collectable figures – and Steve Rogers is one of the best we’ve seen in a while. Not only can you show your allegiance to Captain America and his team during this upcoming civil war, but you can also display the full range of Cap’s badassery. The 1/6th scale collectable figure comes with Cap’s iconic shield (complete with scratch marks we believe from Black Panther during the forthcoming movie), as well as a slightly updated suit. Even though we’ve seen Steve’s longtime friend Bucky Barnes return to the side of good in the first trailer for Civil War, we have a feeling Cap’s going to need his full bag of tricks to take on Iron Man and his team next month.

Of course, collectable figures aren’t the only awesome Captain America merchandise we’ve seen lately. Along with Cap’s shield as a bedside light, a Captain America mug over at Hot Topic is bound to make your coffee taste that little bit more patriotic – take a look here. That said, there’s only so much ass-kicking some merch can do, as it could be difficult to battle evil with ceramic. Playing as Captain America in an online RPG named Marvel Heroes is probably the closest you’re going to get to having super-soldier powers and a vibranium shield. For those interested, the free game can be played on SevenGames.

Even though the ending of Civil War is still yet to be unveiled (unless you’ve specifically searched for spoilers), we expect that current Captain America actor Chris Evans will scheduled in the two upcoming Avengers movies, titled Infinity War – Part 1 (2018) and Infinity War – Part 2 (2019), so we hope he makes it through Civil War. However, as we’ve seen with Game of Thrones, popular characters sometimes don’t survive it to the end… but all will be revealed come May 6th.

This Is The Trash Can You’re Looking For

trash-r2

R2-D2. Trashcan. Yes, it’s R2-D2, and it’s a trashcan. Is it blasphemous? Is it cool? We can’t tell. All we know is that Star Wars fury is once again in full swing, and perhaps as dynamic as the movie marketing machine is, so is the merchandising craze. There are Star Wars… things up the wazoo these days, and people are gobbling them up with renewed fervour. The Star Wars R2-D2 Trashcan is an officially licensed Lucasfilm collectible, and is sold exclusively by ThinkGeek in the US. The head pops open when you press Artoo’s foot, to reveal an 11″ tall inner waste bin. And like any self-respecting officially licensed Star Wars collectible, it’s not cheap: $129.

DOOM Pewter Miniatures Should Sell Like Hotcakes

etc-doom-pewterminis-detail

Doom is one of those classic franchises that people just don’t seem to get enough of. So we’re not surprised to hear there’s a lot of demand for this set of 15 characters from the game, each one made out of pewter. You have all the usual suspects, like cyberdemon, Arch-vile, Hell Knight, cacodemon and more. The set comes in a plastic 10″ x 8″ x 3″ carrying case with an updated stamp on the bottom. We say updated because this happens to be the same set that was sold originally by Reaper Miniatures in the late 90’s, with each figurine made from the same molds. Unlike back then, you can now buy all 15 at once.

The kit is being sold by Bethesda, who bought idSoftware a while ago. They’re asking $200 for it, but you’re going to have to wait a bit until they’re back in stock.
