A Change Of Scenery With These Star Trek Glowing Coasters

Everyone is freaking out about Star Wars, so of course the Intertubes are flooded with merchandise related to the movie. So here’s a nice, refreshing change in the form of a product tied to another pretty successful franchise: Star Trek. The Star Trek Transporter Pad LED Coasters won’t beam your drink to a faraway planet, but they will give it a bit of an ethereal glow. An LED in the base lights up when you put your drink down on them, and will give your libation a bit of a shine. That’s really all they do. Oh, and they play a “materialization/dematerialization” sound when you place your drink down or pick it up again. Please note: they won’t actually perform any type of teleportation, except for maybe $30 out of your bank account when you buy a set of 4.

Set of Coasters Look Like A Cactus

You know how you can get someone to spend way too much money on a simple set of coasters? Design them so that they when you stack them up, they look like a cactus, then charge your customers $43. Yup, $43 for a set of 6 coasters. That’s the idea that designer Cliver Roddy had, and to at least try to justify the price, the set is made from a terracotta pot, birch plywood, and mint green high quality engineered wood. Each coaster is of a slightly different size to give the “cactus” a more organic look, but they’ll still do their job.

Stackable Brain Specimen Coasters For The Scientist In You

Each one of these coasters features a different slice of a theoretical human brain. When they’re stacked up, they create a 3D rendering of a human brain, which is sure to impress your guests with even a passing interest in, well, anything cool. They come in a set of 10, and stacking them in the right order should be easy considering they’re labeled. Made from glass, each coaster also features small rubber feet to keep them off your surface, and away from scratches. At $20 for the set, it’s an inexpensive way to let your guests know that you’re into science-y stuff.

Steel Star Trek Coasters Boldly Go Where No…

You know… we’re groaning at the thought of having to write yet another pun-filled headline that’s a Star Trek or Star Wars reference. So you get the idea. Here are some coasters with the Star Fleet insignia stamped on them. They come in a set of 5, are 4″ on each side, and are made from 3/16” thick, Food Grade 304 Stainless Steel with a felt backing, so they’ll feel heavy and premium. There are many other ways of keeping your drinks from ruining your tabletop, but very few that proclaim quite as loudly just which brand of nerd you are (and by the way, we mean “nerd” in the best possible way here). The Star Trek Coasters are made by Easy seller ApocalypseFab, and cost $44 for the set.

Currency Coasters Are Made From Money – Literally

What happens when paper money falls out of circulation? We’re not sure, but some of it clearly gets shredded and ends up as coasters. Mixed with a type of resin, the Currency Coasters are part shredded ex-money, part plastic and all conversation piece.

Well, maybe not conversation. Maybe just a “hey, dude, your coasters are neat-o!” But at $35 for 4, that’ll do.
