IE7 sucks. If you’re using that right now, please go hide in shame. Developers have to spend extra time coding for it and making things look right, and that’s just because there’s still an inexplicable amount of people using it. To combat this phenomenon, retailer Kogan has decided to impose a 6.8% tax on anyone making a purchase from that browser:
The way we’ve been able to keep our prices so low is by using technology to make our business efficient and streamlined. One of the things stopping that is our web team having to spend a lot of time making our new website look normal on IE7. This is an extremely old browser, so from today, anyone buying from the site who uses IE7 will be lumped with a 6.8% surcharge – that’s 0.1% for each month IE7 has been on the market
Makes good sense to our and no doubt there’s a horde of web developers worldwide saluting them as we speak.
And while we’re on the topic… you really should upgrade if you’re among the 6.12% who still use it to read this site (yes, we know you’re there…).
