Survival Belts: The Belt for Boy Scouts

Survival Belts

This belt is for survivors. It’s Slide Belt’s Survival model, and it stays true to its name because it’s built to last through the toughest of situations. The belt is waterproof, resistant to abrasions, and UV protected. It even flexes like normal even at sub-zero temperatures– a feature you’ll appreciate if ice climbing is one of your hobbies.

Aside from that, the belt features a built-in bottle opener which definitely comes in handy when you’re out with the guys. Cough up a few more bucks for the Survivor model and you’ll get a belt that comes with a striker and ferrocerium fire starter rod that’s good for 1,000 strikes.

The belts are up for funding on Kickstarter, where $59 will get you the Survival model while $89 will get you the Survivor Belt with the firestarter.

You Need One: ‘Doctor Who’ Sonic Screwdriver Bottle Opener

Sonic Screwdriver Bottle Opener

When it’s not TARDIS, it’s the Sonic Screwdriver. These are two things you’ll find the Doctor constantly reaching for in times of need or whenever he feels like it. You won’t be able to get your own real-life time travel machine, but you can buy a replica of the king of all multitools that does one thing and one thing only: open your bottles of soda and beer.

Having a bottle opener that looks like the Doctor’s screwdriver might be a bit of an overkill, but it’s an awesome thing to behold that’ll make you the envy of your friends every time they come over for drinks. Plus, you can totally use it as a prop when you do cosplays or when you want to dress as the Doctor at a costume party.

The Sonic Screwdriver bottle opener retails for $24.

These days, numerous contraptions and accessories exist to help you do even the most mundan things. Take, for example, this little thing Trudeau came up with that’s both a bottle opener and cap catcher at the same time.

It’s aptly called the Bottle Cap Catcher because that’s exactly what it does. With this around, there’s no more need to bend over and gather all the caps that fell while you were opening the bottles. It works simply enough, and it does save you from a potentially sore back, especially if you’re having a particularly large group of friends over. You can get one online for $12.
