Fear And Loathing In Las Vegas: The Board Game

“Once you get locked into a serious drug collection, the tendency is to push it as far as you can. The only thing that really worried me was the ether. There is nothing in the world more helpless and irresponsible and depraved than a man in the depths of an ether binge, and I knew we’d get into that rotten stuff pretty soon. -Raoul Duke” I watched Fear and Loathing for the first time a month ago. I do believe I’m still high, and I don’t touch drugs. That movie was… special. It’s got its own cult following, and maybe some of its fans will be interested to know that one Jonathan Baldwin created a very limited edition board game based on Hunter S. Thompson’s classic, which he describes as “‘a scientifically-accurate, organic chemistry board game based around “Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas.’”

We… don’t really know how it works, or if it is even for sale. But we do have a few more pictures for your perusal, as well as links, after the jump.

Upscale Typography Edition Game Of Scrabble Will Ship In August

By David Ponce

Some people take wordsmithing pretty seriously, and there are very few games better at honing their skills than the venerable Scrabble. The above Typography Edition set of the game had been announced for some time now, but the news is that a shipping date has finally been set. As of August of this year, you could get your hands on a gorgeous, “six-panel solid walnut magnetized gameboard lined with slip free cork, a solid walnut storage case with drawer, metal tile racks, and solid walnut tiles featuring a variety of different and exciting fonts.” Designed by one Andrew Capener, the game will be limited to 1,200 units, each of which will be autographed.

It’s $200 and quite frankly, if you’re the type of person who’d take the game seriously enough to consider this a worthy purchase, it’s somewhat of a bargain.
