This Hippie Van Holds Your Drinks, Keeps Them Cool

Back in the days when Volkswagen wasn’t embroiled in an emissions scandal, they made cars everyone wanted to own. The Westfalia became an iconic representation of the 1960’s hippy culture, and it lives on in many people’s hearts as a throwback to a simpler time when music sounded better and Kim Kardashian didn’t exist. Even though the company doesn’t make them anymore, you can still get one in the form of the Volkswagen Panel Van Cooler, a large, wheeled cooler for drinks.

It faithfully reproduces the same trim details of an early Samba model that became an iconic symbol of the free-spirited 1960s, including the original’s eight panoramic roof windows, fabric sunroof, and two-colored paint scheme. An overhanging “hat” (that previously shielded a driver’s eyes from the sun) runs around the cooler’s entire top, providing an easy grip for retrieving one’s preferred beverage from a spacious interior with 3/4″ of insulation that holds up to 24 16-oz. bottles and ice. Made from pressed steel, the cooler has a telescoping 24″-long handle pulls the cooler along on its 8″-diameter rubber tires, allowing you to steer the cooler’s front wheels into just the right spot next to a lawn blanket. Integrated drain hole in the rear.

This cooler is as much of a statement as it is a practical way to keep your beverages cold. But all the attention to detail, and quality craftsmanship means it’s not cheap: $500.

PhotonGrill, An Inflatable High-Power Portable BBQ

The PhotonGrill is an inflatable, portable BBQ that uses the power of the sun to cook your food. It’s great for places where you’re not allowed to start a fire, since it uses no flames and no fuel to get the cooking pan scorching hot. It’ll reach temperatures of 500F/260C in as little as 5 minutes, which is faster than charcoal grills. It does this by letting you unfurl and inflate a parabolic mirror that focuses the sun’s rays exactly where the pan itself sits. The entire setup takes 3 minutes, and the pan provided with the kit is “solar-optimized”, whatever that means. The PhotonGrill neatly folds away into a backpack, making it easy to take with you on your adventures. If the idea of cooking your food with the planet’s only true source of extra-terrestrial energy tickles you, you’ll have to pledge around $225 to their Kickstarter campaign.

SpinChiller Chills A Beer In One Minute, Costs $20 (DotD)

Spinning an aluminum can in icy water in order to chill it faster actually works: you can get a beer from room temperature to frosty in about 60 seconds. But doing this manually isn’t the best way to go about it. The SpinChiller is a water resistant drill of sorts that accepts standard sized cans and spins them.

There’s nothing like a refreshing ice-cold drink on a hot day. With the SpinChill, you can cool off no matter how far you’ve strayed from the fridge. This innovative gadget chills drinks up to 30 times faster than a freezer, and can work its magic in a minute flat. Bring it to the beach, pool, picnic, or keep it in the car for emergencies—you’ll thank yourself later for saying yes to the SpinChill.

– Water resistant
– Pocket sized
– Chills up to 300 cans before requiring new batteries
– Spins smoothly to avoid foam creation & explosions
– Drops the temperature of your liquid 45 degrees in one minute

The summer isn’t over, guys. You can order one of these for $20, down from the usual $25, with free shipping.

Homping Grill Is An Upgrade To Portable BBQs

BBQ season is in full swing and the list of ways to get your meat cooked is nearly endless. You’re going to have to add the Homping Grill to that: it’s a portable charcoal BBQ with an integrated fan, and 95% less smoke than traditional grills. It uses a special gel to light the briquettes, which reach 400 degrees within 2 to 3 minutes. The angled design of the cooking surface directs fat drippings away from the flames, reducing flareups and thereby keeping smoke production to a minimum. The battery-powered fan stokes the flames, maintaining a constant temp, or reducing it as needed. Best of all, it’s already available at $200.

Doctor Who Sonic Screwdriver BBQ Tongs

Ok, so I’m going to admit something: I’ve never watched a single episode of Doctor Who. Not one. I know, I know, I’m an incult, a barbarian, a good for nothing, I know. But, this means I have no idea what these Doctor Who Sonic Screwdriver BBQ Tongs are, or why they’re cool. I’m guessing some character in the show has them, or something like them, and now you can flip your burgers with the same type of props. Awesome.

Featuring metal tongs, a heatproof plastic handle, and storage case moulded to look just like the 11th and 12th Doctors tool of choice, theres even the iconic sonic screwdriver sound effect from the show to add some extra cool to proceedings. A must-have not just for the millions Whovians out there, but also for anyone who just wants to liven up their BBQ! Tongs measure approximately 22 1/2 long. Requires 2 x AA batteries (included).

So there you have it. For $35 you can pre-order these things, and they’ll ship in September. Just in time for some Fall grillin’.

The Roccbox Portable Stone Bake Oven Will Bake You A Pie In 90 Seconds

Screen Shot 2015-06-10 at 11.40.17 AM

Burgers, dogs, and kabobs are stapes at BBQs. But it’s not too often you’ll see people making pizza. That’s because tossing an uncooked pie on a regular grill might not get you the best results. But if you pack the Roccbox, everything changes. The innovative design features a slab of stone, and a specially designed rear burner that works either with gas or wood. In 15 minutes you can have a 500C (932F) oven, which can take your pie from raw to cooked in 90 seconds flat. The outer section is covered in a protective silicone shell, which helps in not getting your fingers toasted along with your pizza. But it isn’t only pizza that you can make in the Roccbox: “it enables the baking of breads, cooking of fish, roasting of meats, vegetables, desserts and much, much more.” It is portable at 20kg (44lbs), but not exactly super light. Still, for what it does, we are intrigued. And at £349 ($541USD), it’s not outrageously expensive.

This Machete is A Spatula

Or is this spatula a machete? Whichever way you choose to look at it, the Machete Spatula is one badass looking piece of BBQing instrumentation. And if flipping your burgers with what looks like a terrifying weapon isn’t manly enough, there are not one but three bottle-opening hooks on the side of the blade. We’re getting some giggles imagining the scene that would have you popping some caps off beer bottles, while flailing this large chunk of metal around, only to settle down and flip a burger or two. That’s what BBQ fun is all about, and you can get the Machete Spatula for £11.99, or around $19USD.

The GoBQ Is A Foldable, Ultra-Portable Grill

Being able to carry your BBQ anywhere you go seems to be an increasingly popular ability these days, as seen in products like the BBQ Briefcase we covered a while back. But even that one didn’t have the ability to roll up into a bag, like the GoBQ does. Made from a fireproof silicone-coated fiberglass fabric that can handle temperatures up to 1,200° F (648° C), the 8 lbs. GoBQ unfurls into a “14 x 14-in (35.6 x 35.6-cm) cooking grate that offers more cooking area than the Weber Smokey Joe 14.” A chain-mail like charcoal holder keeps your heat source well ventilated, and the folding legs to which the entire assembly attaches are easily collapsed and transported. The special fabric is also insulating, helping to keep more of the heat within and keeping the outside cooler; we still wouldn’t touch it when grilling, but you get the idea. It’s a good, convenient way to transport your grilling gear anywhere you want, and at $120, is priced just right. If fully-funded, you can expect to catch the tail end of Summer 2015, with a projected shipment date of August.
