Mogees Turns Just About Anything Into An Instrument

mogees-1

Finding yourself always tapping away on surfaces, creating a beat from stuff that wasn’t meant to be musical? Well then, Mogees is just for you. It’s a special vibration sensor that attaches to anything, and allows you to map different vibration patterns to different instruments. This way you can turn your living space into a whole percussion set. You first have to program the app and tell it which vibrations correspond to which instrument (eg. tapping with open palms on a door could be the snare drum, using the knuckles could be the high hat, and hitting it with a key could be the kick drum), it’ll then recognize the vibrations and communicate the signal to your phone, which in turn emits the corresponding sound. Imagine sitting at your desk at work and kicking out a whole drum set by tapping on your drawers, your stapler or anything else that comes to mind. It sounds ridiculous, but you really have to watch the video to see the potential.

It’s not limited to drum sounds, incidentally. Mogee outputs MIDI signals, so you can map just about any instrument to your vibrations and get creative. It’s a fully-funded Kickstarter, and a £96 ($147) pledge will get you one with delivery in November!

Connected Dice Roll Themselves, Light Up, And Make Sounds

boogie-dice-3

Dice have been around for a long time, but it seems it’s only lately that we’ve started seeing any sort of innovation brought to this centuries old product. First there was the Ako Dice a week ago, and now we bring you news of the Boogie Dice. While the Ako’s update was purely aesthetic, the Boogie Dice are high-tech. The biggest feature is that they’ll roll themselves: simply snap your fingers, clap your hands, or make a sudden loud noise to activate the rolling action. An internal vibrator will keep them dancing on the table between 2 and 4 seconds, long enough to make you feel like they’ve been properly tossed. “The Boogie app allows you to customize the dice by changing the length of the roll, color of the LED lights, the sound sensitivity and more.” A charging station also does double duty as a rolling arena, making sure the dice don’t fall off your table. On a full charge, you can expect 600 rolls.

It’s doing the Kickstarter dance at the moment, and you can get a pair for a $38 pledge, with shipping in March 2016.

Snorkelling Takes On Another Dimension With An Underwater Jetpack

x2-Sports-Underwater-Jet-Pack_1

There are many things to explore on this planet, but most of them require some kind of physical effort. Like snorkelling, for instance. It’s all great fishing fun until you realize if you want to see anything at all, you will have to kick your finned feet around quite a bit. That’s an effort that can be avoided altogether if you strap the x2 Sport Underwater Jetpack to your back and wrists. Simply by pointing your fists in the direction you want to go, you’ll be able to travel up to 10kph (6mph) underwater for up to 60 minutes at a time. The propellers attach to your wrists, and are controlled through a handheld remote. The entire system weighs 5kp (11lbs) and will unfortunately set you back a hefty $2,000 as an early adopter. Yes, that does mean it’s a crowdfunding campaign that’s not even fully funded at the moment. And it does mean that you’ll have to wait until September 2016 until you get your own x2.

Phonster Is A Holster For Your Phone

AGE-Phonster-Handcrafted-Holster-Featured-image-672x372

The hipster is strong with this one. Phonster is a hand-made leather holster that looks like it could carry a gun, but is instead made to carry your smartphone. Given that you wear skinny jeans and that you’re worried your iPhone 6 Plus will bend, it makes some sort of sense to contemplate this. It’s made by Ukraininan leather goods manufacturer AGE, and comes with two cases which can hold your wallet in addition to your phone. There’s even a pull-tab so you can get your device out without too much fuss.

If you don’t mind the slightly pretentious hipster aesthetic, the Phonster seems to be pretty useful. It’s a $99 pledge to get your own, with shipping by December of this year, and comes in several different sizes to accommodate most mobile devices.

Got The Kitty Keyboard Syndrome? Fix It With The Neko Pochi Anti-Cat Keyboard Cover

neko-pochi-anti-cat-protection-keyboard-cover-1

Cats are great most of the time, expect when they decide that your keyboard is the best place to take a nap. And of course, they take this decision only when you’re actually working, because what fun would it be otherwise? The Neko Pochi Anti-Cat Keyboard Cover tries to deal with this reality by providing you a clear plastic cover that can withstand cats up to 10kg (about 22 lbs), yet allows you to keep working even when your feline visitor is attempting to hijack your productivity. It covers most standard keyboards, and comes in clear, yellow, and blue colors. And even if you don’t have a cat, the cover can be useful for setting down your phone or tablet and keeping an eye on your notifications.

The only problem is the price: $74! It’s imported from Japan, granted, but at that price you might as well buy your cat some catnip and get him high every time you need to get something done. Or, you know… not be a pushover and just shoo him off.

R2-D2-coffee-table-pinball-machine-1

You have to be a serious fan of the franchise to consider dropping 10 large on a coffee table. Sure, it’s decked out to look a lot like R2-D2. And sure, it’s got a fully functional pinball table as its core. And yeah, sure, there’s even a mini slideprojector (picturing R2 in the Death Stars’ sewage), a flashlight, sounds, lighting programs, and a fully functional animated droid on the play field. And ok, yeah, it did take over 320 hours to assemble… But $10,000? Yeah. That’s a heck of a lot for a piece of functional furniture, no matter how cool it looks. Still, if you’re really motivated, it does look like the company, Altar Furniture, will make you one.
