I have been traveling with my notebook many times and wished I had an external keyboard with me. This happens even more frequently now that I use a netbook with an even smaller keyboard and a tiny track pad.

Panasonic Unveils Lightweight HD Camcorders

By Shane McGlaun

The first camcorder that I ever saw was one that my uncle had. The thing was huge and looked like something the newscasters used. It wasn’t only the huge camera though; the thing had a huge VCR that had to go along with it. It weighed about 30 pounds altogether.

Panasonic has announced a couple new camcorders today that are being called the world’s lightest camcorders at 0.5 pounds. The camcorders are the HDC-TM10 and the HDC-SD10. The only real difference between the two is that the SD10 stores video to SD and SDHC cards only. The TM10 has 8GB of internal storage and then changes to SD/SDHC cards.

Bluetooth headsets can be convenient when you are driving and can prevent you from getting a ticket in many states. The issue for some users is that most Bluetooth headsets are expensive devices. Jabra has unveiled a new Bluetooth headset called the BT2080 that is cheap.

The BT2080 headset sells for $39, which is much cheaper than many high-end headsets sell for. To prevent users from accidentally turning the headset off it has a dedicated power button. Support for Bluetooth 2.1 with EDR and eSCO is built-in.

Sprint Gets Sanyo SCP-2700 Cheap Text Phone

sanyoscp2700-sb By Shane McGlaun

I got a text from my mother-in-law the other day, which was weird. For one reason, I don’t like to talk to her that much, any married guy will understand. The other reason is that I didn’t know she knew what texting was and she has a phone that is older than my kids.

Sprint has a new entry-level phone for people like her that are just getting into texting and want a cheap phone to make things easier. The Sanyo SCP-2700 is cheap enough at $29.99 after an instant $150 rebate, a $50 mail-in rebate, and a 2-year contract.

The device sports a full QWERTY keyboard and can access work email from Exchange or Domino. The handset can also access the web and social networking sites. Other features include GPS navigation support, Sprint Family Locator Support, and picture mail support.

New Kindle DX Accessories Offer Screen Protection

You know, I think the kindle is really cool. I’d like to have one, but I am more of a sci-fi fan and I am not sure if they have any books I would like. The real reason I don’t jump up and buy a Kindle DX is that the dang thing costs $500.

For that much coin it should come pre-loaded with naked girls and at least include a cover to protect the expensive and large screen. Alas, it comes with neither of those things, but M-Edge can help you with protection for the screen. The company has announced two new protective covers for the Kindle DX called the Executive Jacket and the Platform Jacket.

Pioneer Electronics Unveils Three Blu-ray Players

By Shane McGlaun

Every now and again, someone I know will ask me what Blu-ray player they should buy to go along with their new TV. I always tell them to get the PS3 because I think it’s one of the best Blu-ray players out there. I had a guy tell me he didn’t want video games in his house the other day and preferred a stand-alone Blu-ray player to the PS3.

For people who feel the same way Pioneer has launched a trio of new Blu-ray players including the Elite BDP-23FD, the BDP-120, and the BDP-320 models. The 23FD is aimed at the professional integrator looking for a player with full control capability for integrating into high-end home theaters. It includes a special KURO Link Picture Mode and a precision quartz lock system that helps prevent playback jitters. The 23FD sells for $599.Continue Reading

I have a couple gaming PCs in my house and none of them can be called green. In fact, my personal gaming PC can double as a heater in the winter and after a few hours use in the summer it makes my office unbearably hot.

Maingear has announced a gaming PC for the eco conscious gamer called the Pulse. According to Maingear, the Pulse is the world’s greenest gaming PC and is the first upgradable NVIDIA Ion PC ever. The machine uses NVIDIA Ion graphics for power savings and can be upgraded with a GeForce 9800 ECO video card.Continue Reading

Nokia BH-905 Bluetooth Headset Debuts

nokiabh905-og

By Shane McGlaun

I am not a big fan of Bluetooth headsets. I think they have their place, like when you are trying to drive in a manual transmission car. However, if you use one while say walking in the mall you should be kicked in the balls (or punched in the ovaries if more appropriate).

If you are into music on your phone, most go for ear buds because they are compact and don’t look as strange on your head as say your massive headphones from 1984. Nokia has announced a new Bluetooth headset called the BH-905 that is quite large. The massive size looks like something you would see with a home stereo rather than a mobile phone or MP3 player.
