Why Is the iPad POS System Taking Off?

Credit card machines and cash tills are getting a little paranoid because they’ve heard of the introduction of the new iPad POS (Point Of Sale) System. The system itself is an innovative way of helping businesses in a variety of industries become more efficient when it comes to accepting payments.

But, that’s not all these systems are used for. They also come with a host of other features and benefits that are ultimately making credit card machines and cash tills quake in their boots. Why is the new development of iPad POS Systems taking off in restaurants and other businesses around the world?

The Implementation of Inventory Tracking
The days of walking into the back of the restaurant to check on food inventory are long gone. iPad POS Systems come equipped with inventory tracking software so customers know whether a specific meal is in stock there and then. This increases employee efficiency, and it also means impatient customers are no longer a problem. It’s features like these that are giving employees the chance to provide a better service regardless of the industry they work in.

The Hot Glue Gun Is A Thing That Exists

fondoodler-1

Because we’re definitely too healthy, physically, as a nation, it’s clearly time to make it easier to put cheese on everything. The Fondoodler is a device whose only purpose is to melt cheese and extrude it over anything you want. The name comes from a combination of Fondue and Doodle, because you’ll be doodling with your melted cheese (did you know that ‘Fondue’ means ‘melted’ in French?). You can use it to decorate your dishes, caulk your bathtub, make 3D cheese structures or squirt it straight into your face. Beware: hot cheese is hot. It works with just about any type of cheese that melts, from processed crap to fancy aged goudas.

It’s $25.

WatchAir Antenna Sends OTA Signals To Your Mobile Devices

WatchAir-Wireless-Antenna

A few years ago it became necessary to purchase converter boxes to still be able to receive Over The Air TV signals, since they went all digital. But these converter boxes just plug into your TV, and let you watch programs on a larger screen; if you want to see stuff on your tablet? You’re out of luck. If you get the WatchAir, a smart antenna, you can do just that. It sends the OTA HDTV signals to any connected smart device, by using your home router and WiFi. You can record shows, access the TV guide, and do anything you’d normally do on your living room TV, but on your cellphone, your tablet, or your laptop. It’s currently going through a Kickstarter, and a $189 pledge will get you yours.

Officially Lincensed Xbox One Onesies Are A Thing That Exists

xbox-onesies-1

I guess there are some people that take their gaming pretty seriously. Well, I already knew that of course, but it’s interesting to see that they’d take it seriously enough to consider the purchase of a garment made specifically for this activity. Mind you, the Xbox Onesie does list a series of features that kind of makes sense if you’re planning an extended gaming session.

– Enlarged pockets to fit your Xbox Controller and Media Remotes
– Arm pouch to offer quick and easy access to your mobile phone
– Roll-able legs and arms to cater for all temperatures and seasons
– Forearm grips to prevent slipping on those ‘edge of your seat’ moments
– Extra-large hood to accommodate headsets for the ultimate gaming sessions
– Customised Gamertag embroidery

It’s the creation of Xbox One Australia, and will apparently be only available intuit market. Price and availability information are missing, but it does seem to be a real product that you’ll be able to buy soon.

Chronos Makes Your Dumb Watch A Little Smarter

chronos_disc_011-590x330

You may have spent a bunch of cash on your nice new watch, but you’re starting to look at all these people walking around with smart watches and it leaves a sour taste in your mouth? Well, you can have your cake and eat at least part of it too. The Chronos… disc(?) attaches to the underside of most watches and gives them a fair bit of smartwatch functionality.

Working with an app on your phone, it counts steps and monitors heart rate like a FitBit, but also allows you to program a variety of vibration and light combinations for alerts. As with the Apple Watch, you can prioritize certain contacts and alerts over others, allowing them to come through while ignoring others for the time being. The disc also senses taps on the watch face to trigger user-specified functions like skipping a call or taking a photo.

Sure, 33mm across and 3mm deep disc won’t give you a fancy touch interface, and it’s lacking some of the features of the Apple Watches and the Moto 360, but it’s a compromise, and not a super expensive one either. A $99 pre-order gets you one, with shipping in spring 2016.

The Dechoker Is For When The Heimlich Manoeuvre Doesn’t Work Out

the-dechoker-19688

Choking is bad, m’kay? It’s probably one of the most horrifying ways to die, so we’re happy that most people are at least somewhat aware of life-saving techniques like the Heimlich manoeuvre. But you know, it doesn’t always work. Or even worse, not everyone knows how to perform it, so a person in distress that could otherwise be saved ends up kicking the bucket needlessly. Well, the Dechoker is a product intended to come into the fray after Heimlich has either failed to work, or failed to be performed for lack of knowledge. It’s basically a vacuum pump that you place over a person’s mouth, while they’re on their back; you pull the plunger and hopefully dislodge your blockage in the process. You then place them on the side until they recover. It’s a brilliant tool to keep in your first aid kit, and definitely worth the astronomical $149.95 asking price.

Znaps Adapter Gives Your Mobile Device MagSafe Powers

znaps-1

If you’ve ever owned a MagSafe-equipped device, you’ll know how great it is to be able to magnetically snap your power adapter in place, and just as easily tug it free. You can now give that same functionality to any mobile device, thanks to the Znaps adapter. You simply plug the small dongle into the MicroUSB or Lightning port, and just leave it there. Then you insert a special sleeve over the connector of your existing power cable, which converts it to work with the dongle on your mobile device. In less than a minute you’ve given your device magnetic charging capabilities, allowing you to plug it in one-handed, unplug it with a tug, and do any of the things that MagSafe-like connectors allow you to do. The best part is that at an $11 pledge, you’ll have to pay very little for this cool new functionality.
