Zamzar, Convert Anything To Anything, Online, For Free

Online services are getting their act together. From Google’s Documents and Spreadsheets, to online photo editing (like Snipshot, which I always use), it’s getting to the point where downloaded software is becoming obsolete. Now, without wanting to get into the whole WebOS argument, we’d like to point you to a very interesting site: Zamzar. It very simply lets you convert any type of file, into any other (appropriate) one. It’s a four step process:

1. Select file from your hard drive (up to 100MB). It can be just about anything. Really.
2. Choose the format you want to convert to.
3. Enter your email address.
4. Press “Convert”.

The company will do the processing for you, and send you a download link. You then have 24 hours to go get your converted file. What formats are supported? Hell, it’s a little long: there’s 9 video formats, 14 document formats, 11 music formats and 5 image formats. The only drawback we can see is that you cannot control specific encoding settings, which might be a dealbreaker for some. But if you’re looking for a no-hassles, free converting solution that you can access from any PC, then you might want to give them a look.
