Took Long Enough: Sriracha To-Go Packets

Sriracha-ToGo-Packets

We’re not sure why it’s taken this long, but Sriracha is finally releasing to-go packets of its famous, delicious, almost addictive sauce. Over a year ago we told you about the Sriracha2Go Keychain Bottle, and that was pretty cool. But let’s be honest, who’s going to really carry some hot sauce on their keychain? So it makes a lot more sense to get these, which come in boxes of 50 or 200, for $15 or $35 respectively.

The Hottest Cold One: Sriracha Hot Sauce Flavored Beer

Sriracha Hot Sauce Flavored Beer A beer that’s hot and cold at the same time? Well, that’s got to be Rogue Brewery’s Sriracha Stout. Hot on the heels of bacon, it seems like people are adding Sriracha to all sorts of stuff where it normally shouldn’t be– Sriracha cookies, Sriracha salt, and Sriracha chocolate, for instance. And now, there’s Sriracha beer.

ROGUE Sriracha Hot Stout Beer, made from Huy Fong original hot chili sauce and sun ripened Rogue Farms ingredients, is ready to drink with soups, sauces, pasta, pizza, hot dogs, hamburgers, chow mein, or anything you’d like to wash down with a spicy kick.

You should probably go for something else if you want to sit back and relax while sipping your booze instead of running around the house, looking for some milk to neutralize the spiciness.

A bottle of Rogue Sriracha beer costs $13.

Spice Up Your Holidays: Sriracha-Twisted Candy Cane Cookies

Sriracha-Twisted Candy Cane Cookies

Some people like it hot. Not hot as in piping hot, but hot as in spicy, Sriracha hot. That might be fine for a bunch of food and drinks, including popcorn and candy canes, but what about Christmas cookies? You’ll have to be the judge of that by baking your own batch of these sweet and spicy candy cane cookies.

The white part is plain sugar cookie dough, while the red bit is the red spiced dough where the sweet peppermint in traditional recipes is replaced with Sriracha instead. The result is something that you’ve probably never tried before.

You can find the recipe here.

Sriracha Salt

sriracha-salt

We’re not sure at which point in the last years Sriracha entered the Hall Of Fame of Geek foods, along with bacon… and bacon, but it’s definitely there. There’s Sriracha Popcorn, Sriracha Chocolate, and now we stumble across Sriracha salt. For those times when sauce is just too wet for your tastes, this salt is “a dehydrated mixture of Sriracha sauce, kosher salt, garlic powder, and cayenne pepper.” The vast majority of reviewers on Amazon seem to give it the thumbs up, so we’re gonna go ahead and assume it’s decent. Considering it’s $5, you won’t break the bank even if you don’t end up loving it. However, it doesn’t seem to be available at the moment, but you can sign up to be notified of when it is.

Sriracha Chocolate Bar Does Seem Like A Good Idea

sriracha_chocolate_bar_1

Last time we wrote about the Rooster Sauce, it was in regards to a seemingly delicious popcorn creation. Since then we’ve come to realize that people really do feel quite strongly about the spicy condiment, so what better than to introduce you to Sriracha Chocolate. First of all, we’ve tasted chocolate mixed with chilies, and we have to say that the combination is great. Have you watched ‘Chocolat’, with Juliette Binoche and Judi Dench? No? Well, it was our first introduction to the concept, and they were right: it works. So then, a Sriracha Chocolate Bar would seem like a match made in heaven. Right?

Well, they say the proof is in the pudding, and even if it looks good on paper, we can’t be sure it’s good until we try it. Or one of you does, and reports back. It’s $8, at Thinkgeek.

The Oatmeal Partners With J&D’s And Creates Sriracha Popcorn

Are you seriously addicted to the Rooster sauce? You’re not alone. Our favourite webcomic TheOatmeal, shares your passion, and feels Sriracha is “a delicious blessing flavoured with the incandescent glow of a thousand dying suns.” You’re a poet, The Oatmeal. And we also love J&D’s, who believe everything should taste like bacon. So you can imagine how excited we were when we found out about Sriracha popcorn, the result of an alliance between the two.

It’s a Thai-inspired kick-in-the-face with red chilies, garlic, sugar and a hint of vinegar. Just like the Rooster Sauce that inspired it, we think you’ll find yourself getting as addicted to it as we are.

Unfortunately, we’re not the first ones to hear of this wonder-product, and it’s now currently backordered 5-7 business days. At $6 a bag, it’s super cheap and in our opinion, definitely worth the little wait.
