Some Monsters Remade ‘Desert Bus’ Into An All-New VR Experience

Roughly 22 years after Penn and Teller released their infamous game ‘Desert Bus’ as part of Penn & Teller: Smoke & Mirrors, there is now a VR remake of the game.

Desert Bus is notorious within the gaming community. Originally released on the Sega CD, the premise is that you’re driving a bus (in the desert) to a Penn and Teller show. The game takes place in real time and you drive on a barren desert highway with no way to take a break or pause, and every time you finish your 8-hour drive, you’re awarded one point.

It’s considered by some as one of the worst games of all time.Continue Reading

JIM Is A Smart Decanter That Can Pour You A Drink/Make Snarky Remarks

In the spirit of making everything in your house “smart”, here’s a Jim Bean whisky decanter that can actually pour you a drink on command.

Okay, so it seems like the decanter itself is a bit of a gag gift. It does pseudo-commands a la Amazon’s Alexa, but it gives snarky responses to questions like “Hey Jim, what’s the weather like?” (Hey, that’s my job). Despite the silliness, it is a real product and it can really pour you a shot of whisky on command.

It’s priced at $35, though the company says the “smart” features will cease after about 6 months. Still, not a bad gift for a fan of the whiskey.

Here’s A Video Explaining Why Phone Call Hold Music Sounds So Awful

Ever wondered why music that’s playing while your phone call’s on hold sounds awful? The worst is when you’re on an important call, like being called for a job interview or calling a sex hotline. You can’t hang up or even put the phone down because you don’t know when the other person will pick up. “C’mon Candy, I can’t listen to that tin-can version of Don’t Stop Believin’”.

Turns out there’s a history of companies cutting corners in order to make connecting calls cheaper, and Youtuber Tom Scott breaks down the reason why that hold music sounds worse than Jaden Smith’s new rap album.

Android Oreo Addresses Cheeseburger Emoji Situation

A few weeks ago, we wrote a story about Google dropping everything to address the issue with their cheeseburger emoji. If you need a re-fresher, they had the cheese under the patty. Well they promised to fix the issue and they followed through.

In Android 8.1 “Oreo”, they updated the emoji to reflect how actual human beings eat food, and the cheese is properly on top of the bun. Finally, I can go to bed again without having to cry myself to sleep over the whole situation.

But wait there’s more, Google also fixed another emoji that previously flew under my radar. The beer glass emojis now show full glasses of the frothy goodness.

I still expect a full investigation into the emoji situation, and how someone could’ve designed such a cheeseburger. But for now, I think the forgiving process can begin.

SodaStream’s New Mix Turns Water Into Wine

10Ah the SodaStream, I remember getting one for Christmas a few years back. It really is awful, isn’t it? It’s just one of those kitchen gadgets that no one really needs and gets tossed in the back pantry for years. I mean, soda isn’t particularly expensive in the first place, so what’s the benefit to making your own?

Anyway, the company is making a little splash once again as they’re introducing their latest concentrated mix, one that gives you a strong 10 percent alcohol by volume Champagne. Wow, that sounds just awful. It’s like a punchline to a joke that someone took seriously. “Hey, what’s worse than carbonating your own soda? Carbonating your own Champagne!”

I am in an extra insulting mood today aren’t I? I mean, I guess if you like the SodaStream than maybe adding a little Champagne isn’t that bad, it just isn’t for me (obviously).

The Sparkling Gold SodaStream mix is available now, but only for a limited time.
