I Dream of Pastry: Sleep on Sliced Bread, Croissants, and Cushy Omelettes

Bread Sleeping Bag

Who ever thought sleeping in and on pastry could be so comfortable? I don’t mean the normal kind you see at bakeries, but rather, I’m talking about these gigantic, cushy ones being sold by Japanese mail order company Felissimo. A variety of sleeping bags oozing with baked goodness are available, from the “Goodnight Desert Omelette” and “Japanese Cushion Bread” to the “Chocolate Nap” and “Cream Pocket Bread.”

Each of them is inspired by the particular pastry they’re named for. Some of them even come with red jam and chocolate filling–in the form of red and brown blankets respectively.

Bike For Two: Two Seats, One Bike

Two-seater bikes are uncommon but they aren’t exactly anything new. Or are they? Normally, two-seater bicycles feature one seat placed behind the other. The bikers are then expected to pedal in conjunction with the other for a smoother ride. That’s what YouTuber Marcin Zakrzeski’s two-seater bike expects bikers to do, too, although it offers extremely different seating options.

Instead of front to back, this particular two-seater bike features side-by-side seats. It’s a bike where both the riders are seated too close for their comfort. However, it does provide both with equal front views of the scenery, since the back rider has to keep staring at the front rider’s behind on the typical two-seater bike design.

Upgrade Your Lunch: Better Meals for Random Strangers

Not everyone has time to prepare a healthy and balanced lunch for themselves or for their significant other. Work can demand so much of a person’s time and effort that they sometimes ignore the more important things–like preparing a good lunch, for example. Picking up on this and actually doing something about it is Food Beast in collaboration with vitaminwater.

They’ve launched a new YouTube series called #UpgradeYourLunch where they basically upgrade a bunch of people’s lunches. They started out by distributing freshly-prepared meals to the entire warehouse staff of streetwear company The Hundreds.

Epic LEGO Mosaic of Video Game Characters

LEGO Mosaic

This is an awesome LEGO mosaic featuring characters from some of the most popular video game franchises ever, including Super MarioPokemon, and The Legend of Zelda. It was created using over 10,000 individual bricks (some of which are very rare, according to its maker) with a total value of about $2,190. The mosaic apparently took over six months to complete, and I have to say all that effort was well worth it because this thing looks epic.

The good news? It’s been put up for sale because its owner is moving to France for work and obviously won’t be able to take the mosaic with him. He’ll also be giving the proceeds from the sale to his friend so she can send her class to Africa. Sounds like a neat cause. The bad news? It’s priced at $4,780.88.

Hit the break to check out a couple of close-up shots of the mosaic.Continue Reading

French Fry Vending Machine Dispenses Hot Fries in 90 Seconds

French Fry Vending Machine

This is one vending machine that I’d love to see in my office.

It’s a french fry vending machine and it dispenses hot fries in less than two minutes. This particular machine is located in Chaussee de Gand-Steenweg op Gent in Brussels, Belgium and it costs €2.50 (about ~$3.35) for a cup of hot, crispy fries. Buyers can choose to have their fries topped with either mayo or ketchup, although it’s too bad the machine doesn’t allow you to get both. You get a generous serving in the cup and I’m definitely willing to fork over a couple of bucks to get my fill of fries anytime I want.

Denture iPhone Case: All Teeth, No Bite

Denture iPhone Case

This isn’t the first time that teeth and dentures took center stage in accessories. We first heard of ConcaveOblivion when they came up with denture-themed fashion accessories, like bangles and combs. They’re back once with more accessories that bite, this time for your phone.

Each case is handmade and features polished dental acrylic veneer. It’s probably not a case for the faint of heart.Continue Reading

Plexus is a Shirt For All Occasions

Plexus

The Plexus is the T-shirt of the future. This futuristic concept design was created by Vernon Chen and Joanne Lim Jin Xuan, who both imagined that the shirts of the future will be “held together by pixelated nano-particles.” These shirts will be highly interactive with the wearer’s surroundings and will morph and change to match the occasion, going from a casual shirt to a formal one within seconds. This feature is attributed to the “opening and closing [of] its louvre-like pixels.”

So a shirt with a coat-and-tie design isn’t exactly formal or proper work attire, but if everyone’s going to be wearing this thing in the future, then that probably won’t be an issue. Of course, such material doesn’t exist yet and the technology to actually come up with this type of shirt is probably still decade away. But it’s still a pretty interesting concept. don’t you think?

You can watch a video highlighting the many features of the Plexus after the break.

Kapture is a Wristwatch That Records Your Every Word

Kapture

Want a record of everything that you’ve said? You can either call the NSA or slap this contraption on your wrist. Obviously the former isn’t an actual option, so your best bet is Kapture. It’s a wristwatch-slash-wearable audio recorder that records your every word. The catch is that it only has enough memory to store 60 seconds of sound, so you can only go back and listen to the last minute of your immediate past on playback.

Kapture constantly and continuously records audio. Given its limited storage, it is also continuously erasing data and recording over previous recordings, too. Its creators are seeking $300,000 for seed funding and will be launching the project on Kickstarter on September 3rd.

Chiu Chih’s Survival Kit for the Apocalyptic Future

Chiu Chih Survival Kit

At the rate things are going, we’d be lucky if the human survives for a couple more centuries. Chiu Chih’s concept for a future contraption that humans might need if the world we live in goes downhill looks daunting. The project is called “Voyage on the Planet” and focuses on the current state of the earth. It raises controversial and much-debated questions like new energy sources and further exploration of the planet to ensure its survival.

Chiu’s solution for deteriorating air quality? A backpack of fresh air provided by a lone plant stored in the clear backpack.
