The Lenovo Thinkpad X1 Carbon is an Ultrabook proper. It’s thin, light, features an SSD and Intel’s Ivy Bridge processor. It can be bumped up to 8GB of RAM. But perhaps most importantly, it is made from carbon fiber. Carbon fiber, folks. That’s how it keeps its weight under 3 lbs. Of course, carbon isn’t usually very cheap, but after the massive $1,088 price drop, a $2,285 laptop is now $1,196. Good thing too, because frankly that’s the unofficial pricepoint for these machines and anyone doing any other price is pretty suicidal. And at this price, you’re getting 4GB of RAM, a Core i5 CPU and 128GB of space on that SSD.
