Credit Card Sized Jackknife

By David Ponce

We’re not going to get into the debate over concealed weapons and the need for their existence. The short and the long of it is, they exist, for better or worse. So there will be those of you who see the benefit in carrying something like a jackknife, be it for your own protection (hopefully) or for unfortunate shenanigans. The above Credit Card Knife is 2 3/4″ folded and is made out of titanium. It might be too thick to actually fit inside your wallet, unless you’ve decided to opt for a George Costanza-style paper pouch.

You’ll be pleased to know that its price is as diminutive as its size: $30.

I actually own one of these, and I wouldn’t describe (or recommend it) as a weapon. It’s a tool, nothing more.

What the picture doesn’t really show is how slim the knife is – it’s about as thick as two credit cards when folded down, so when you use it it feels like you’re holding a metal credit card in your hand. As you can imagine, holding it with enough force to actually cut somebody with it will hurt your hand quite a bit, as the metal edges will cut into your hand. Needless to say that the knife would be absolutely useless as a stab weapon, it’s far too short for that.

So – it’s a tool. Not as versatile as a Swiss Army knife, but easy to carry around in your wallet, and sharp enough to cut open annoying plastic packaging and stuff like that.
