Playing hide and seek with your kids is a fun pastime, unless they’re not so great with the finding part, leaving you stuck in a closet or trapped behind a couch for hours on end. If that’s the case these plush Hide & Seek Safari Jr. animals should be a big help. They still let you play hide and seek with your kids, but it’s the elephant, lion or monkey who’ll be doing the hiding. You stash it somewhere secret, and then your kids use their electronic wands to hunt them down, so it’s particularly great for kids who are finding-challenged.
The animals communicate with the wand via high-frequency sounds (out of the range of human hearing) instead of RF, and the wand features a set of LEDs that will light up in sequence as they get closer to them. Both the wand and the animals will also make sounds when they’re particularly close to each other, making the finding part even easier. The plush ‘Jr.’ versions of Hide & Seek Safari pictured above are $34.95 and are designed for younger children, while versions with small plastic figurines for older kids run the same price.

With CES quite literally just around the corner we’ll be bringing you a glut of shiny new tech over the next week, so today we figured a bit of low-techery wouldn’t hurt. This simple metal pen clip from Authentics is designed to slide down the spine of a Moleskine notebook providing a way to always have a pen or pencil handy. As someone who’s yet to give up on a pen and paper planner, I think it’s brilliantly simple, and I wish I had one for CES. It’s available from the Connox Living Design Shop for ~$13 (€9.90) for the small version, and ~$17 (€12.90) for the larger, and both are available in a polished chrome or matte finish.

Jack Spade, makers of some of the cleanest yet functional messenger bags you can buy, have applied their design aesthetics to yet another iPad Folio case. Like other offerings it allows you to prop your iPad up for hands-free viewing, and use it in a portrait or landscape orientation, but it includes a strategic cutout on the back making it compatible with an iPad dock. There’s also a couple of thin pockets on the inside of the flap for stashing documents or even your sync cable. At $69.95 you’re probably paying a bit of a premium for the ‘Jack Spake’ patch on the front, but I have no doubts you’re also getting a very well-made and high-quality folio.
