I was called into the office the other day, and was handed something I’d never laid eyes on before. What was handed to me was the Splitfish FRAGFX SHARK gaming controller for use with the PlayStation 3, PC, and Mac. I looked down in awe of just how cool the thing looked, and I imagine I looked back up with the eyes of the Nintendo kid on Christmas. I immediately rushed down to the gameplay area and set up to start testing the controller. The SHARK is meant to be used with FPS games mainly, and it does its job perfectly. Here’s my review of the Splitfish FRAGFX SHARK gaming controller, for your viewing pleasure.

Why spend money on special gloves, a stylus or voice-activated Bluetooth gear in order to use your iPhone in the cold when there’s another available appendage for operating the touchscreen sitting right between your eyes? This German NoseDial app displays your list of contacts as a set of large buttons, making it easy for you to place a call by simply hitting the screen with your nose. The list can be scrolled by tilting your iPhone too so you don’t need to slide your nose across the display, and the app is available from the iTunes App Store now for just $0.99.

Alright, if your name is hspringsteen, you don’t have anything to worry about. All of those gifts that you still haven’t bought? They’re going to be coming your way. We can’t cover all 21 of your nieces and nephews, but this should help a bit. Now are you going to wait until the last minute next year? Lets hope not.
In all seriousness, congratulations to him, and thanks to everyone else that entered. And remember, if you’re still wanting to get in on some free goodies, we are still giving away a Tokyoflash Kisai Sensai Pure Watch. The contest is running through Christmas, so at the very least you can get yourself a late gift.
Happy Holidays!

We’ve spoken about Vizio before. They’re the brand that was lucky enough to be picked up by WalMart for distribution and grew its sales from “$600,000 in revenues and three employees in 2002 to an estimated $2Billion+ in 2007″. We’re assuming things kept on getting better after that and we hope that their deals are a reflection of this. Today you’re able to get a 29% special on a E470VA 47-in 1080p 120Hz LCD HDTV. This means $270.00 (29%) off in order to get a $929 set for $659. For that price you get:
Full HD 1080p resolution, 50000:1 Dynamic Contrast Ratio, two built-in 10W speakers, SRS TruVolume, 4 HDMI inputs, detachable base with thumbscrews and bundled screen cleaning cloth.

I’m an advocate for carrying the iPhone and iPod naked, sans-a-case. So when it comes to backup batteries, which I feel is a must-have accessory, I opt for solutions that aren’t built into a sleeve or a case. Like Duracell’s instant charger I reviewed last year. The downside to those though? They end up hanging off your device like a pair of wet mittens tethered to your winter coat. But here’s a nice compromise.
The Octopus, which features a 1500 mAH lithium-ion polymer battery good for an extra 4 hours of talk time, 5 hours of video or 18 hours of audio on the iPhone/iPod Touch, temporarily connects to the dock connector when needed but secures itself to the actual device via a set of suction cups on the back. Hence the name, the Octopus. Its battery takes about 3 hours to charge over USB, and roughly the same time to recharge a dead iPhone, but the best feature is the extremely reasonable price tag of around just $30 from Chinavasion.

After a gigantic meal on Christmas day it’s hard to muster the energy to even leave the table. And that’s why I think boardgames are such a popular pastime during the holidays. But while classics like Monopoly and Clue are infinitely replayable, sometimes you need to mix things up a bit. And that’s where the Boardgame Remix Kit comes in. I’m sure we’ve all fudged the rules to our favorite games to keep things interesting, but this kit includes complete alternate rules for Monopoly, Clue, Scrabble and Trivial Pursuit, 25 game ‘remixes’ in all.
While a printed book copy of the kit is still listed as “Coming Soon”, a set of limited edition cards (which only feature 12 game remixes) is currently available for ~$18.50 (£11.99). Though as of yesterday you won’t be getting them shipped in time for Christmas. Thankfully the kit is also available as an immediately downloadable DRM-free ePub or PDF ebook for ~$4.60 (£2.99) and as an iPhone app for the same price.

All-in-one’s, as I’m sure you’ve noticed, are quite popular, though like pretty much everything else, they aren’t failing at dropping their prices down every now and then. Lenovo is no exception with their IdeaCentre B305. There are three configurations in dual, triple and quad-core flavors and the one where you stand to realize the highest savings is the flagship quad-core model. The B305 – 40311PU is usually $1,049 and is currently $100 off. Add to that a $350 stackable coupon and the machine is yours for $599. This is what you get:
AMD Athlon II X4 600e AM3 Processor ( 2.20GHz 2MB ), 4 GB PC3-8500 DDR3 SDRAM 1333MHz, 21.5″ WXGA+ LED MultiTouch 1920×1080 monitor, 640GB 7200 HDD and Genuine Windows 7 Home Premium 64.

Alright guys, you’ve got a big problem, don’t you? It’s less than four days until Christmas, and you’ve not finished your shopping, have you? Wait, you haven’t even started?! Alright, let me think for a minute, surely we can come up with something.
Okay, I’ve done a bit of work between that last paragraph and this one. I’ve rounded up a whole bunch of stuff that your friends and family are going to love. There’s over $1,000 worth of gadgets and whatnots in this bundle. Santa himself couldn’t fetch a better bag of goodies. Don’t believe me? Just take a gander at the list below.

The last time we saw the Motz tiny wooden speakers their technological prowess left something to be desired. It’s hard to knock their lovely apricot wood finish and aesthetics, but $50 for a minuscule speaker isn’t exactly the deal of the century. Its latest incarnation however ups the ante with a built-in MP3 player that can load tracks from a USB flash drive or an SD card. For just $10 more!
It probably gains a little bloat from the added electronicy bits inside, but the Motz is still adorably smaller than even the included wireless remote, so there’s not much to complain about. Its rechargeable lithium-polymer battery is still good for about 10 hours of playback with headphones, or 5 hours when using the speaker, and it’s available now from Pyramid Distribution for just $59.99.
