ThinkGeek’s Electronic Music Synth Shirt

Electronic Music Synth Shirt (Images courtesy ThinkGeek)
By Andrew Liszewski

Rounding out your t-shirt based band comes this new tee designed by ThinkGeek that features a fully-playable sythesizer with “five different pro-quality sampled instruments”. It’s also got eight-voice polyphony which basically means you can play up to eight keys at once, and a retro looking amp/speaker box you can wear on your belt clip. Like any of these electronically enhanced tees the powered bits can be removed for easy washing, and if you were wondering the answer is yes, the volume knob on the amp does go to eleven. $29.99 – $32.98 depending on your size, shipping November 30th.

In Your Own Voice Storyteller Lets You Read Bedtime Stories To Your Kid Without Actually Being There

In Your Own Voice Storyteller (Image courtesy Hammacher Schlemmer)
By Andrew Liszewski

This little device is not unlike the Photo Album Story Teller we brought you back in September. The technology is basically the same, but I think this time it’s used in a better application. Designed for kids who can’t read yet, or are in the process of learning, the generously-sized pen-shaped device lets you record yourself reading each page, and the recordings are then synchronized to a set of 600 dot-encoded stickers. All your child has to do is point the pen’s sensor tip at the sticker and they’ll hear you reading that excerpt. It also comes with 40 additional stickers that can be used to trigger amusing sound effects to punch up the story, and is available from Hammacher Schlemmer for $79.95.

Lil Big Rig Conversion Turns Your Pickup Into A Mini Optimus Prime (The Fake Movie One Though)

Lil Big Rig Conversion (Images courtesy Lil Big Rig
By Andrew Liszewski

How many times have you sat in traffic in your (relatively) tiny pickup truck and gazed in envy at the massive 18-wheelers hauling who knows what to who knows where? Well while you probably won’t be using it to haul trailers across the country, a Nashville-based company called Lil Big Rig will sell you a $12,950 conversion kit allowing you to turn your late-80′s to early 1998 2WD Ford F-250 into a miniature Peterbilt cab. Affectionately known as the Lil Pete.

But if your loyalties lie with another truck manufacturer, like say Kenworth, then you’re in luck because the company also makes the Lil Kenny conversion kit for the same price. It’s compatible with long bed full size Chevy pickups from 1973 to 1987 or a 2WD Dodge 1500/2500 from 1994 to 2003. The kits even include interior components like a more industrial looking replacement dashboard and a sleeper compartment, and installation requires no welding at all, just basic hand tools like a drill, grinder and various wrenches etc.

OhGizmo! Review – Crucial RealSSD C300 256GB SSD

By Chris Scott Barr

There’s no mistaking the fact that SSDs are the future. The traditional spinning disks that we’ve become accustomed to just can’t hold a candle to the SSD when it comes to performance. Of course things like capacity and price still keep these devices out of the hands of the general population for the time being.

So lets say that you’re someone who likes to be on the cutting-edge of technology. The SSD is going to be an obvious choice, but which one is right for you? Well, hopefully today we can help narrow your search down just a little bit. We’ve got a 256GB Crucial RealSSD C300 on the review table.

Deal Of The Day: $650 Off 73-Inch 3D Ready DLP HDTV

By David Ponce

Here’s how it goes when it comes to HDTV: large screen – slim profile – affordable; pick two. Most of the TVs we’ve talked about in this column involve slim and affordable, but the largest I’ve personally seen tops out at 55 inches. While some may say that’s plenty (it sort of is, really)… bigger definitely is better… at least in the land of TV. And today’s deal shaves a cool $650 off Mitsubishi’s WD-73C10, a 73 inch behemoth that just happens to sport DLP technology. For a very reasonable $1,449.00 you get full 1080p and 3D capability to boot; it’s just not a dainty ballet dancer let’s just say. So to sweeten the deal, you’re getting a 3D Starter Pack ($400 value) for FREE via mail-in rebate. This starter pack includes an HDMI cable, a 3D Adapter with Remote, two pairs of active 3D glasses and a Disney Blu-ray 3D showcase disc.

PharmaJet Needle-Free Injector

PharmaJet Needle-Free Injector (Image courtesy Pharmajet)
By Andrew Liszewski

Instead of using a long pointy needle to deliver medication, which can be quite painful at times, the PharmaJet uses a high-speed liquid jet that literally blasts the medicine through your skin in less than 1/3 of a second. While the technology isn’t necessarily new, the PharmaJet improves on older designs with a sterile, single-use syringe and a spring-powered mechanism that requires no external power source besides the muscle needed to re-load it.

And since pain is a subjective feeling, the PharmaJet isn’t billed as being completely ‘pain-free’, but according to the company’s founder it feels like the equivalent of a tiny rubber band snapping against your skin. The injector, which can be reused thousands of times, currently costs about $100 while the single-use syringes run somewhere in the neighborhood of 30 cents to $1, probably closer to the latter. So they’re more expensive than traditional needles at the moment, but as production and use increases it could end up being a viable and even more cost-effective alternative to being stabbed in the arm.

GoPet Tread Wheel Is Designed For Small To Medium Sized Dogs, Not XXXL Hamsters

GoPet Medium-Sized Tread Wheel (Image courtesy GoPet)
By Andrew Liszewski

If you think this GoPet Tread Wheel is a sensible alternative to taking your dog for a walk, then as far as I’m concerned you shouldn’t be allowed anywhere near our four legged friends. In essence it’s an oversized hamster wheel designed for dogs to get a little exercise without their owner having to put in any effort. It even has a safety door so you can lock your dog inside until you’re ready to spend time with it again. Well, actually, it’s so the dog doesn’t fall out while ‘exercising’ since apparently running inside a giant wire wheel isn’t a skill they’re naturally born with.

The smallest version of the GoPet Tread Wheel, designed for toy breed dogs is $357.03 (ugh, inflation! I remember when they were only $357.01!) while a fully tricked out version for medium sized dogs, including an exterior house mount, is $845.88.

ThinkGeek Releases Their Own iPad Bluetooth Keyboard Case

By Chris Scott Barr

Yesterday we showed you a gadget that could essentially turn your iPad into a netbook by giving it a sleek case with a built-in keyboard. It looked rather fancy, and gave the appearance that it actually was a netbook or laptop. Unfortunately, for the $150 price tag, one could actually buy a netbook.

ThinkGeek has just announced their own iPad Bluetooth Keyboard Case, for a fraction of the cost. It has a nice black silicone cover, which folds out to reveal a Bluetooth keyboard, and a stand for the iPad. It can also be flipped around so that the flap sits behind the device, letting you hold it just as you normally would. The rechargeable lithium ion battery lasts up to 90 hours, and is recharged via USB.
