Bring back some truly impressive vacation videos with this new waterproof case from H20 Audio that lets you use your video-capable 5th generation iPod Nano under water. It’s completely waterproof to a depth of 12 feet, and thanks to H20 Audio’s ‘Commander’ scroll wheel technology you can still take full advantage of all the Nano’s controls while it’s in the case. Now at $79.99 it’s far from being the cheapest case on the market, but if you have any desire to shoot with the Nano under water, you’re probably not going to want to cheap out. (In other words I’d recommend this over a Ziploc sandwich bag.)
It doesn’t contain a full-blown SNES console inside, which means it can’t be hooked up to a TV, but I still think this modded SNES controller is a really clever idea. It was created by benheck.com Forums member ‘techgeek90′ and not only does it use a RetroZone kit to add a USB cable to the controller, but there’s also a USB flash drive in there allowing you to store all the ROMs and emulators you’ll ever need. So if you happen to find yourself bored in a place where there’s at least one PC, you’ll be able to get your Star Fox or F-Zero fix.
I’m pretty sure any real DJs wouldn’t be caught dead wearing one of these campy Tableturns watches from Flud, but according to the company’s website you can at least be assured you’re still ‘keeping it real’ if you’ve got one strapped to your wrist.
The TableTurns watch tips its fitted cap to the art of the DJ by slapping the object of your affection right on your wrist. The TableTurns is more than just a simple effigy, it redefines “keeping it real,” by being true to form, down to the most minute details, available with both a leather and a steel band, this watch is bound to scratch the surface of more than just a few conversations.
“Scratch the surface”, I get it, clever. The leather and silver band models pictured above each run $70, but there’s also gold and gun metal versions for $80 each when you’re ready to ‘keep it extra real’.
Update: In the interest of fairness I wanted to include a response to my comments that Flud posted on their Twitter feed. “Hey Ohgizmo- thanks for the blog post but your dead wrong about real DJ’s not wearing it. Everyone from DJ Drama to Whoo Kid to Green Lantern to Kay Slay to DJ Babu to Jazzy Jeff to the Awesome 2 rock that watch.”
This “all purpose office mini tool,” which includes a calculator, stapler, scissors, and measuring tape in one silver and questionably svelte case is from an era where physical manifestations of work actually exist in the real world, which is no longer the case… All of those jobs that involve manipulating physical objects have either been shipped overseas or farmed out to robots. Cutting and stapling paper? Archaic! Measuring things? I scoff at measuring! The only size that’s relevant anymore is whether or not something is too big to fit on my flash drive. So instead I propose that this office mini tool should be redesigned with the following four useful features:
-Flash drive with built-in compression software to render measurements of size irrelevant
-Calculator that returns answers only in binary
-Foreign language translator to assist you when you go overseas to get your job back
-Anti-robot taser (good luck with that)
And there you have it, the office mini tool that might actually do you some good. The old version is $10, and my new version will likely cost quite a bit more, but that’s the price you pay for progress.
Are you worried that vibrations in your sound system are affecting your listening experience? Well worry no more as MOON AUDIO has managed to find the secret to anti-gravity. That’s right, a technological breakthrough that would absolutely change the world is first being used on a floating shelf designed to reduce or eliminate vibrations. So how does it really work?
By utilizing the latest advancements in magnetic technology we have created a shelf that suspends equipment in the air supported by the powerful opposing forces of magnetism and the magnetic fields have been found to have no interference with the components on the stands.
Wait a minute! So all this time the secret to anti-gravity has been magnets? Why didn’t anybody tell me?!? And it finally makes sense why this shelf costs $500, it is cutting edge technology after all! And now I’m off to harvest all the magnetic gold that’s been stuck to my fridge all these years.
I don’t know about you, but Christmas gatherings with my family can get pretty crowded, and as it is my uncle can barely keep the train under his tree from accidentally getting derailed by someone. So while these animated cable cars are a clever twist on the traditional train under the tree decoration, I don’t think they’d survive for very long in a household with either kids, pets or festive revelers. $49 from Walmart, if they ever get it back in stock.
I know musical toys can get pretty annoying for parents, but I’m willing to bet this ‘Original Sound Track’ toy designed by Ricardo Seola would appeal to kids and adults alike. It’s composed of a wooden modular track system covered in strategically positioned bumps, and a wind-up vehicle that features a miniature harp, like those used in music boxes, on the front. As the car rolls around the track, the metal teeth on the harp hit the bumps and every layout produces a unique musical composition.
I’ve included a video of it ‘in action’ after the jump, but since it’s still a design concept that’s hopefully moving into production, the whole thing is a bit rendery. But you get a good idea of how it works.
Having a 3G card can come in handy when one is traveling long distances. I know that mine came in handy this past summer when I drove across the country and back. Of course if you’re in a car with multiple people with laptops, wouldn’t it be nice to share that wonderful internet? Ford thinks so, and is planning on making that an option with their next generation of Sync.
With the next version of Sync, Ford will allow you to plug in a 3G card (via USB) and have it broadcast the signal via Wi-Fi. Since you won’t want outsiders leeching off of your connection, you’ll have access to the same security measures as any other wireless router. As an added level of security, all new wireless devices must first be confirmed by the driver before they are allowed on the network. Look for this feature to debut on Ford cars sometime next year.
I think everyone has a favorite character from Mortal Kombat or Street Fighter they’d play with more than others, but what makes Fight With Photos: Photo Fighter X for the Nintendo DSi better than both of those titles is the fact that your favorite character could be you.
The DSiware title uses the DSi’s built-in camera to capture photos of you in various poses to build your character, as well as random objects that can be used as weapons or backdrops for your epic brawl. You can even do your own foley work creating custom sound effects for every action using the DSi’s built-in mic. Now since it’s a DSiware title that will cost just 200 points, don’t expect an in-depth game, but for originality it seems like a must-have. Just check out this amazing game play action if you have any doubts.
Photo Fighter X is available in Japan as of the 16th, and hopefully gamers in the US, Europe and elsewhere will eventually get their own localized version.
