Tamrac ZipShot Tripod With Tent Pole-Like Legs

In my experience there’s no structure on Earth more stable than a tent, oh wait, I mean just the opposite, which is why I’m really intrigued by Tamrac’s new ZipShot tripod. It uses tent pole-like legs to make it ultra compact when folded (15 inches long when collapsed) and light (just 11 oz.) but at the same time it opens in just seconds, and can apparently support even DSLRs up to 3 lbs in weight. Now I have to assume Tamrac has ensured the whole thing is stable when setup, since they’re not exactly an unknown brand when it comes to photography, and if it works as promised the $50 price tag doesn’t actually seem too unreasonable.

This tripod is a bit short, they should have added one more of those segments to each leg.
  • Camera shake is probably ridiculous on this though.

3 lbs is nothing. Not quick release attachment? No way to adjust the height? Way over priced

If I was a photographer, I would like one. To be able to throw it like a pokeball, and be like, go tripod hold my camera. That would be cool. The price isn't bad either.

3 pounds isn't much. My D90 with zoom lens is pushing that boundary already. And I would assume 3 pounds is the "theoretical" maximum. This would probably be better suited for point-and-shoots.

    Still an awesome concept though.

Now if I had a camera this thing would be pretty handy.
