8 LED Desk Lamp Powered By A Telephone Jack

The fact that a landline phone will continue to work even in the event of a power failure wasn’t enough to stop me from going cellphone only, but it’s nice to know those unused phone jacks dotting my walls aren’t just an eyesore now. The trickle of power they carry is apparently enough to power this 8 LED desk lamp that features an RJ11 connector at the end of the power cord, instead of a plug or USB connector. The pink color scheme is a bit on the hideous side, but for just $4.69 the lamp at least seems like a handy emergency light for your next power outage.

This is a good idea!!!!!!!!!!!! I can see this idea taking off. I know ill buy it.
Is the phone jack electric power coming from our regular house electric power???? Or else where?????Who pays for the power the light is using then????

As far as I know it's power generated by the phone company, and when the power goes out they use generators. Looks like they'll be paying.

Thanks! Next I was wanting to make an alarm clock run the same way well charging a battery or two to keep on when not plugged in. Any ideas?

Why would they make it pink unless it was targeting women? Actually, everything should plug into the phone company. That would be a good reason to have a land line. Imagine running your entire house off your phone line.

I dont mind the color as long as i can screw the phone company. The product is out of stock btw :( I tried to order this.
I have a desklamp with 10 LED, how do i rewire it to a phone jack? Anyone??
  • chaosoldier
very carefully.. they possibly have a power amp circuit in it somewhere..
  • chaosoldier
if you don't like the color paint it.

I don't like the pink, but I want some. This is a great product if you think about it. Great find!
  • chaosoldier
same goes for you.. just paint it..

I want more things that the phone company pays to power.

Would this still work if you didn't have a landline subscription, just the plugs in the wall? Too bad it doesn't double as an actual phone.
  • Just a heads up guys, the phone company does monitor the (pathetically small) amount of electricity they send down your line, and <ahem> frownnnn on using it to power things other than phones in the house...

i like it,its very cheap and in my color and i don't even need electricity for use it!!EXCELLENT!!!!
