PC’s Purchased From Microsoft Stores To be Bloatware-Free

Microsoft

By Chris Scott Barr

Whenever you purchase a new PC, one tends to notice all of the extra software that comes with it. If you ask the manufacturer, they’ll tell you that they’ve done you a favor by providing lots of “useful” trial applications for you. Of course any tech-savvy person with half a brain immediately goes through and systematically removes every bit of it. Well if you want a computer without all of these “extras”, apparently you’ll be able to get one at the Microsoft Store.

That’s right, Microsoft’s new retail stores are going to carry computers without any additional 3rd-party software. That’s of course nothing to say for first-party software, as they will be installing all of the optional Microsoft software that you would otherwise have to download. This includes Windows Live Essentials, Bing 3D Maps, Security Essentials and the Zune client. Sure, it’s not a completely crapware-free computer, but it’s definitely a step in the right direction.

It would be nice if all PCs were Bloatware-Free.

Until that happens, PC Decrappifier is a great program.

Dude, if you're going to keep up with me you'd better get more interesting.

Gee, now we'll only have to dump all the useless microsoft crap. Frankly I think this Microsoft store idea is not good. I predict failure for this enterprise.

Here is the easy solution to eliminating all of your useless software needs.
    Step 1. Go online
Step 2. follow this link: http://www.ubuntu.com/GetUbuntu/download
    Step 3. Click “Download Now”
Step 4. Burn ISO to disk, if you don't know how to do this follow step 2 on above link
Step 5. Restart computer with disk in drive and follow directions on screen

I doubt that they ever really intended to expand past their flagship store, and if they intended to then they probably wont. This what all just a ploy to try to shake apple's resolve.

This is great, I hate how mac users can always use the bloatware arguments to trash windows, when in reality its manufacturers like Dell and Gateway that pack you full of trash apps.

BTW, the first thing I install on a new computer? Revo uninstaller :)

I remember when I first got a Dell, it was jam packed with “goodies”. I cleaned it up right way, took a while but it was worth it.

That is a great way to get people in the stores.
