By Andrew Liszewski

Over the next few weeks if you happen to be having a conversation at the water cooler and the question of who makes the smallest 32GB USB flash drive comes up, you can confidently drop Super Talent’s name. Today the company announced six new models of their Pico drives that each feature 32GB of NAND flash storage as well as transfer speeds up to 200X, or 30MB/sec. Three of the new models are water resistant and feature gold or nickel finishes ($85) while the other three include AES-256 hardware encryption for extra security ($99).

Custom Devastator Figure Belongs In An Art Gallery

Custom Devastator Figure (Images courtesy eBay)
By Andrew Liszewski

If there are any young’ns reading OhGizmo! I want you to take a close look at these photos. What you see here is how Devastator from the Transformers is supposed to look like, not that monstrosity that appeared in the Transformers sequel and in toy sections across the country. But I can understand how you’ve been misled. While Takara and Hasbro have re-released a decent collection of the original Transformers toys over the past few years, Devastator hasn’t been one of them, so there’s been little opportunity for you kids to be educated on the real Constructicons. But thankfully eBay seller ‘malsmasterpieces’ took it upon themselves to create this custom 25th Anniversary version of Devastator which I’d like you to study thoroughly. (There might be a quiz later.)

All six construction vehicles are represented, complete with their original accessories, and they each transform into their robotic alter-egos including Mixmaster, Bonecrusher, Scrapper, Hook, Scavenger and Long Haul. As far as I’m concerned this thing belongs in an art gallery given all the work and detail put into it, but you’re welcome to add it to your own collection if you’re willing to top the current bid of $1,025. Four days left!

X-Power1 iPhone USB Sync Cable Includes A Built-in Rechargeable Battery

To say I’ve been less than impressed by the iPhone 3GS’s battery life is an understatement. But I won’t give in and slap on one of those giant battery backup slip cases because I think they wreck the phone’s form factor. This however, I do like. It’s a replacement iPhone/iPod Touch USB sync cable that features an inline rechargeable battery. The size difference is negligible, and according to their site the battery is capable of providing an additional talk time 4.5 hours on the iPhone 3G and 9 hours on the 2G, and boost your standby time up to 270 hours. Not bad for about $30 if it works as well as they claim.

McLaren And Samsonite Launch Luxury Travel Bags

By Andrew Liszewski

While definitely slick looking, I think these new suitcases, that are a result of a partnership between McLaren and Samsonite, might actually venture a bit too far into overkill territory. The luxury bags, which start at $326 and will be available in the Fall or Winter, feature a high-end suspension system for the wheels which absorbs the impact of bumpy or uneven terrain to protect what’s inside the bag. It’s a clever idea and all, but until they develop a suspension system that protects your suitcase from baggage handlers, I’m not interested.

Personal Urns Are Guaranteed To Creep You Out

By Chris Scott Barr

There’s a funny little thing that my brother and I like to tell our parents when they’re being particularly nerve-wracking these days. We kindly remind them that we’ll be the ones that pick out their nursing home, so they should be nice. Yes, we always say it in a joking manner, and we can only get away with it because grounding doesn’t work when you’re in your 20’s and live in your own house. This train of thought has always made me wonder how I can have the last laugh on my kids when my time is finally up. Well let’s just say if they stick me in some crappy nursing home, I know exactly what my final wish will be.

What better way to creep someone out than to request that your ashes be contained in an Urn that looks exactly like your head? Well thanks to the Personal Urn, this creepy joke from beyond the grave can be pulled off quite effectively. The company will take a full 3D image of the person’s head (postmortem) and then it will be printed off using the latest 3D printing technology. Just make the proper arrangements before you go, and will one to each of your children. Make sure to specify that you want it kept on their mantle with a bit of your ashes inside. There’s no way that they could bring themselves to disobey your last wishes, even if it is really creepy. But then they should have thought about that when they stuffed you in that crummy nursing home straight out of Happy Gilmore.

XCM Releases Black Light Chameleon Case For Your 360

By Chris Scott Barr

I’m a gamer that plays on all of the current-gen consoles. However, I’m still more partial to my PC for most games. Unfortunately it’s the most expensive to keep up with, since I’m usually purchasing some sort of upgrade every few months. Of course that makes it all the more fun to show off. That’s why I usually have a really nice case with a clear side and maybe a light or two to showcase my components. That’s just something you don’t really see with consoles. There are a few cases on the market, but none that I’ve ever really thought would be worth the purchase. However, the new XCM Black Light Chameleon Case looks pretty tempting.

This new case replaces the current one housing your Xbox 360. Yes, that means you’ll actually have to remove it, but they claim that the entire process only takes about 10-15 minutes. In the end you’ll have a completely black case with a nice clear window. A set of LED lights can be configured to shine in one of 7 different colors, or to cycle through them. You’ll also get an illuminated fan shroud replacement. This $90 case is only going to work on HDMI-equipped 360’s, so you’ll need to keep that in mind. The price is a bit salty, but if you really want your favorite console to stand out, this is certain to do just that.

Star Wars Darth Vader Robotic Arm

By Andrew Liszewski

At one point or another I’m sure everyone’s worried about losing their arm in a lightsaber fight, but it didn’t seem to hinder Vader’s rise to power, so why should it worry you? And worse comes to worse you can always pick up a replacement arm from the for a mere $44.99. So maybe this version is made of 45 snap-together plastic parts instead of space-age composites and alloys, and it appears to be stuck to a large base, but the fingers do open and close allowing you to grasp objects and still live a full rewarding life.

Boing Boing Gadgets Reviews The GP2X Wiz

By Andrew Liszewski

Damn! Rob over at Boing Boing Gadgets posted a review of the ‘new’ GP2X Wiz (pictured on the right) and unfortunately it turns out to be the best portable device for retro video game fans in his opinion. On one hand I’m happy to hear that the AMOLED screen is bright and colorful and that the 533/800MHz processor with hardware-accelerated OpenGL is capable of running most emulators at a near perfect frame rate. (Including Amiga games.) But on the other hand I’ve been hesitant to shell out the $180 for a portable console that will probably never see an official release for a popular modern title, but it looks like I don’t have a choice now.

Western Digital Announces 1TB 2.5-Inch Drives That Won’t Fit In Your Laptop

By Chris Scott Barr

Technology is always being improved upon, usually meaning faster speeds and more storage coming in smaller packages. One of the latest technological milestones comes to us from Western Digital. The hard drive manufacturer has announced that they have crafted the highest capacity 2.5-inch drives. Utilizing 333GB platter technology, they were able to birth 750GB and 1TB drives. There’s only one small problem. Specifically a 3mm problem.

When you hear about a 2.5-inch hard drive, you’ll probably think that its primary function is to sit inside a laptop. Well if you were to crack open most laptops, you’ll find a drive that measures 2.5-inches long, and 9.5mm thick. Unfortunately these new drives from Western Digital are 12.5mm thick. This means that there are going to be a lot of notebooks that don’t accept these new larger drives.
