Maybe this has something to do with the fact that the Palm Pre has basically stolen numerous ideas from Apple's iPhone, copied the interface and attempted to improve on the iPhone without even a shred of respect.

I think Apple should completely block the Pre from iTunes, personally.

Although I am no Apple fanboi, I must disagree with your assessment. This note may only be a warning to users that Apple will not provide support for unapproved devices. If a change to iTunes inadvertently breaks Pre's interoperability, Apple will not be responsible/liable/forthcoming with a fix. And, unless Palm signs an agreement with them, Apple should not be expected to support unapproved devices.

Let's face it, people don't buy iPods/iPhones because of iTunes connectivity. Third party devices connecting to iTunes does not cut into Apple's $$$$$$$. But, users of third party devices who are able to use their devices with iTunes are likely to buy music through iTunes. Intentionally breaking compatibility with the Pre would drive away customers.
