Zodi Camp Shower Gives You 10 Minutes Of Hot Water

zodi-travel-shower

By Luke Anderson

When I go camping, I like to stick to a tent and a sleeping bag, rather than taking a big RV like some people tend to do. I like not being troubled by all of the extras and just enjoying nature. Unfortunately after a few days of enjoying nature, one can get a very unnatural smell. A lot of campgrounds have showering facilities, but if you’re out in the wild, you won’t be as fortunate. If you are still wanting to take a nice hot shower now and then, I suggest investing in one of these Zodi Camp Showers.

The shower holds enough hot water for you to get a good 10-minute shower, which should improve your smell considerably. The water can be adjusted up to 100 degrees and is heated with small propane tanks while the pump is powered by 4 D batteries. That hot shower comes at a hefty price, $90 to be exact.

LED Finger Lamps Perfect For Hitchhikers Or E.T. Cosplay

Automatic LED Finger Lamp Flashlights (Images courtesy DealExtreme)
By Andrew Liszewski

That’s right, for just $5.29 you can get yourself a set of these creepy green LED finger flashlights from Deal Extreme. They automatically turn on when you insert your real fingertip inside, but they’re so realistic that no one will be able to figure out how you got your fingers to glow like that. Unless of course they mistake you for an extraterrestrial, tranquilize you, perform one of those alien autopsies, and discover it was a fake fingertip all along.

Each one is powered by 2 x 3V CR1620 batteries which are included, and according to Deal Extreme, they’re the “Perfect novelty gift for yourself and those around you.” Remember guys, Valentine’s Day is just around the corner…

Star Trek VoIP/Skype Communicator Lets You Avoid Those Outrageous Federation Phone Bills

Star Trek VoIP/Skype Communicator (Images courtesy Everything USB)
By Andrew Liszewski

Obviously timed to cash-in on the resurgence Star Trek will be experiencing thanks to the upcoming movie, Dream Cheeky will be releasing a USB VoIP/Skype phone that’s a perfect replica of the communicators used on the original Star Trek TV series. Due out in April, the ‘phone’ is compatible with XP, Vista and OS X Tiger or greater, and comes with speakerphone, mute and volume control functions, as well as an assortment of Star Trek related sound bites like “Transporter room ready to beam up.” I have no pricing info at this time, but don’t expect it to break the bank.

RadiX Kit Turns Your Dirtbike Into A Snowmobike

2Moto RadiX (Images courtesy 2Moto)
By Andrew Liszewski

I can’t say I’m as fond of snow as I was in my younger days, but it still provides the occasional opportunity for reckless fun that you just can’t have in the Summer time. Snowmobiles are a good example, but if you live in a climate that experiences all 4 seasons, they tend to sit unused in the back of your garage for the majority of the year. The RadiX kit however can easily convert a dirt bike into a snow-friendly thrill ride, allowing you to use it all year round. The front wheel is replaced with a single ski that can be adjusted for extra stability while trail riding, or sharp-turning for racing down hills, while the back wheel and suspension are replaced with a patented ‘curved-paddle’ track design that works equally well on packed or powder snow.

Installing the kit will take you about 2 1/2 hours, but learning to ride a snowmobike only takes a few minutes, particularly since the bikes can stand by themselves, making balancing easy. The company claims to have hit a top speed of about 92mph on a RadiX equipped bike, and because it comes with a high-end shock system, you should have no trouble making big jumps and busting limbs. All for just $4,250.

Nikon Digital Microscope For DSLRs

0203nikon2

By Evan Ackerman

Nikon’s Fabre Photo EX is a sort of lens attachment thingy for Nikon DSLRs that turns the whole setup into a fairly powerful digital microscope. You screw it into the lens mount on your camera and place whatever you want gigantized directly underneath. A white LED illuminates the scene, and somehow (mirrors, lenses, tubes, fairies) you’re able to take a picture utilizing the full power of the honkin’ DSLR sensor, which gives you 45x magnification on a DX format camera, boostable up to 66x with some extension tubes (see? tubes!).

The Nikon Fabre Photo EX will set you back a solid $1200 when it goes on sale February 20th; if you get one, make sure and send me some gross bug pictures or something.

LaserPup Will Drive Your Pets Crazy

By Evan Ackerman

This isn’t quite the coolest pet entertainment hack we’ve seen, but it sure comes close. The LaserPup is a little device that you mount on your ceiling. It’s got a buzzer plus two servos that move a laser pointer around, all monitored via a webcam and controlled through a web interface designed to be used on an iPhone. It seems like it could totally be a sellable product, but at the moment you have to build your own… You can find a bunch of helpful instructions at where else but LaserPup.com.

Upgrade Your iPod Video With A 240GB Hard Drive

ipod240

By Luke Anderson

I have a fairly large music collection, enough that my 16GB can’t hold it all. For the sake of functionality, I was willing to cut out a few tracks here and there. Now if your collection is enough to fill even the largest iPods, you might consider this offering from Rapid Repair.

The company is offering a 240GB hard drive for 1st and 2nd generation iPod Videos. That’s double the size that even the current iPod classic can hold. I’m really not sure why you would need that much music and video with you at all times, but hey, if you’ve got $300 burning a hole in your pocket be my guest.

Senate, House Pass DTV Delay Bill

By Luke Anderson

Well it seems that this whole DTV transition delay is finally happening. I’ve hoped that our government would see the light, but that is not the case. The latest bill has passed at the House and is on its way to President Obama’s desk. Since he’s been pushing for the bill all along, we can assume that he will sign it without hesitation.

One interesting tidbit that made it into the bill is that stations that are ready for the switch may go ahead and do so. That’s just great, first you confuse people by telling them that their old TVs will keep working until June 12, then you let stations pull the plug. I can’t see where that would cause any issues at all. I’m pretty sure the only thing they could do to make this worse is attempt to delay it once again in June.

Brondell Perfect Flush Gives You Options

Brondell Perfect Flush (Images courtesy Brondell)
By Andrew Liszewski

Low-flow toilets are an easy way to reduce your water consumption at home, but there are still times when a full-on flush is just overkill. So the Perfect Flush kit, which can be installed on over 90% of existing toilets in just 30 minutes, gives you 2 flushing buttons. A full-flush for… uh… tougher jobs, and a half-flush for stuff that goes down a bit easier. Now the concept of two flushing options is already pretty common almost everywhere outside of North America, but for those of us living in the good ol’ NA, Brondell claims the Perfect Flush will immediately reduce your toilet’s water usage by up to 50%, which just might make the $149 investment worthwhile.
