What they should do is include the necessary (rudimentary, simple) software to allow you to connect the GPS receiver and SD card to your laptop and have the syncing done that way. I realize that they are pushing the "no computer required" angle, but like Andrew noted, you'll need a computer to see the photos, anyway, so why fight it? If you're a serious photographer (3000 shots at CES), the odds are that you'll have a laptop with you. Same if you're traveling. This way they could sell it for less, and more importantly, the user would only need to carry the GPS receiver, and not the much larger dock. Recharging and syncing would be done via USB cable.

With all gps device syncing, make sure the clock on your camera is set properly when shooting. The gps gets its time stamp from the satellite but the photos are stamped by the camera. If they don't match, all the geo tags will be wrong. Been there, done that.
