Sledding is an activity that most people only associate with the Winter months, after enough snow has fallen to cover the hillsides. But the SLICER sled is trying to change that stereotype, and make sledding an all-year-round activity. In the Winter it functions just like your typical plastic-injection-molded sled, allowing you to careen down a slippery hill covered in ice or snow. But believe it or not, the SLICER apparently works just as well in the Summer too.
The secret lies on the underside of the SLICER where you’ll find a set of removable ‘ICERs’ and molds. You basically place the ICERs in the molds, fill them with water, and then throw them in the freezer for 24 to 48 hours. What you end up with is a set of ice blocks with the ICERs entombed inside. This allows the ice blocks to be easily attached to the underside of the sled, allowing you to slide down a grassy hill, even on the warmest of days. Of course in the Summer the amount of time you can spend sledding is limited to how long the ice lasts, but you can buy extra ICER molds so there’s always a spare set in the freezer.
At $69.99 the SLICER isn’t the most affordable sled on the market, but when you consider it can be used all-year-round, it might have more entertainment value than your toboggan which probably sits unused for 10 months out of the year.
