I have been designing electric skateboard for 9 years, every model has the skatebrake on the front hanger, at 1,500 WATTS and a top speed of 45 miles an hour, the Skatebrake stops my boards with riders that weigh in excess of 220.

My personal “powerboard plus rider weight is 320 pounds, the skatebrake works.PERIOD!

There is a cable attached to the brakes, you can not break it, I have to say it is no different than sliding, to reduce speed, and since the brake pads cost a couple of dollars, and your shoes cost $60-$110 Dollars, the skatebrake pads are rated between 50 ond 60 miles, your shoes are rated for 1 or 2 runs, check with the signed riders, they throw away their shoes after the run, they don't have to pay for them.
