The car is suited for (only) four passengers and features two informational displays, and a touch-sensitive infotainment center with integrated shifter. In addition, the Chevy Volt features an optional navigation system with fuel saving chipsand onboard hard drive for maps and music storage.

My goodness, I was waiting for the release of the original Volt. Not this other one they are showing. I'm not interested anymore no matter what technology is in this car.

This "Volt" deserves a name more like "Sparky" To think I was telling family and friends the Volt would be my next new car? This ugly Mali-Prius wanna be is a disgrace to America. Nice work GM! Sure, I will pay $15,000 more for this fugly thing than a Prius..it will only take me 40 years to make those "savings" back. GM, you are an embarassement to my father who worked 35 years for you!!!!!!

GM never promised a pure electric with the Volt. even as originally shown in concept form, it has used a hybrid powerplant. the big difference between it and a Prius is that the Volt's gas engine will recharge the batteries vs. how current hybrids work by using the gas engine to propel the car. i agree that the "toned down" look is a bit disappointing and derivative of the Prius and upcoming Honda hybrid. Nevertheless, it is a huge step forward to be able to own and operate a car that will go 40 miles without requiring a drop of fuel. that alone makes the Volt interesting.

What a crappy looking car. Looks like a Prius-wannabe. Why unveil something that looks like crap, and can't be driven until 2011? Let it stink under wraps until production, and maybe its performance will make up for its fugly looks.

Boy did they mess this up. First they start with all these wild performance claims of a pure electric vehicle, then they scrap that and go for the hybrid. Now we have a hybrid in a cool chassis? Nope, let's dump all the cool features, grab our cheapest piece of junk car and make a few minor style changes, and we're good. No one will care right?

No way this makes it into my driveway. Ever. Green or not, it still has to look like a car, and this is not it.
