Bushnell BackTrack – A GPS Unit Even Your Mother Could Use

Bushnell BackTrack (Image courtesy Bushnell)By Andrew Liszewski

If you’re in the market for a dedicated GPS device and want all the bells, whistles and advanced features you can get your hands on then the BackTrack from Bushnell isn’t for you. But if you want to find your car in a crowded parking lot, or are looking for an easy way to navigate your way back to your campsite then this pocket-friendly GPS unit is far more effective than a trail of bread crumbs.

All you have to do is mark your starting location with a simple button press, and then using a combination of GPS and a self-calibrating digital compass the weather resistant BackTrack will guide you back to your original location. It runs on 2 AAA batteries and features a high sensitivity SiRF Star III GPS receiver which I assume is a good thing given it’s specifically mentioned on the Bushnell website. And with a price tag of just $59.99 from Amazon.com it seems like a handy device to always have on hand, even if you’re not named Hansel or Gretel.

Not a comment, a question... from how far away does it work? 20 feet? 20 Yards? 20 miles?

All the reviews show the same picture but none mention the size. What diameter is it? Show it next to a coin so we can see how wide it is.
  • Thanks for the review, I wonder is it that what I am looking for?
