If you have a 3G phone, turn the 3G off when not in use. I have a shortcut for that on my SE K850i. You only need it for web surfing, and it sucks the juice out of the battery pretty quick.

Apparently all the 3G phones have crappy battery life and it turns out the iPhone actually stacks up pretty well against the others: http://www.pcworld.com/article/148348/3g_iphones_mediocre_battery_life_still_beats_rivals.html

Not that being the least crappy is that much to crow about…
